Shrinking Backed up DVDs??

I used DVD Shrink 3.2 to copy a DVD to my computer. The resulting file was in 2 parts as PowerDVD files. one file is 843mb and the other file is 990mb. Is there any way to combine the two files into one and then shrink it to about 700mb total. I removed all subtitles, DVD menus and extras, all the stuff that was in french and kept only the 5.1 sound files when I ripped it. I'm not stealing of the internet, I just want to put my DVD collection on my computer without filling my hard drive. thanks

You can reauthor the two files you got in DVD Shrink and set your custom size to 700MB. It will compress it as much as possible. If it is not small enough, simply put the new file(s) through the same process in DVD Shrink again until you get a total size of 700MB or less. Personally, I would recommend using DivX/Xvid to do something like this, because it will preserve the quality a lot better than DVD Shrink. You will also be able to keep more extras, subtitles, ... (if you want). Even if not, the quality will be better w/DivX/Xvid.

I'm pretty sure the idea is to not have to use removable media because it's a lot of effort for us lazy people.

Try this URL www.icos-tech.com and read 'all' of what they have, then go to video help and read all they have, you should have a cursory knowledge about things video, not quite as much as i do but it's a start.

For VHS backups I use some gear from URL to remove the macrovision then Pinnicle version 9 to input VHS into PC then I use a internal NEC 6500 to record as DVD+R. For other devices than VHS e-mail me me at wavidet@gmail.com I can tute you much better that way in the privacy of a e-mail. If you read and understand what I have shared you may not need to e-mail me at all!
