Once and for all -Shinza- for i700m

Hey all

Just wanted to say and confirm once and for all that the 12 inche SHINZA bag works well with the 700m! and note that I am using it with the EXTENDED BATTERY. Oh yeah the bag is the newer version. -CASE CLOSED- no pun intended

The first time i used it, it was a difficult fit and i had trouble zipping it to the end. But the Shinza bag has the ability to stretch itself. I left the 700m inside the bag overnight and the next morning it was no longer difficult to zip it up. It worked flawlessly - without any improper force like before.
That is pretty impressive.

Was it worth it??
Well it cost almost 40 bucks shipped and i honestly have to say that you can't get a better sleeve for that price. It isnt' like case logic's neophreme material. Instead, it feels tough and sturdy, it is not soft at all and doesn't bend like the caselogic- Imagine the neophreme that is supported by cardboard.

The outer texture is not smooth like the neophreme, rather it is a bit grippy. I personally enjoy the neophreme's touch.

The really cool part, however, is the material inside the sleeve. The Shinza bag opens up all way, all 180 degrees, like a book. and everything is black inside of it. The material doesn't look like anything special. It feels just like the exterior- hard and cardboardy. But one cannot put judgement on it until he pushes his fingers firmly on the material. The material is tough, but surprisingly it is mallable (sp)! The imprint the finger leaves behinds stays behind for a couple of seconds. And that gives the shinza amazing force absorbing power!

One thing i dont like about the shinza bag is that it fits the 700m TOO snuggly, which means that bumps hurts the machine a bit more then a laptop that fits a bit looser. While inside of the bag, you can feel the shape of the 700m, expecially the bottom of the computer where it bumps out a bit. I think a 12 inch ibook would be more protected by this case. But its not bad for 40 dollars, if you really want hardcore protection and would sacrifice the size then simply buy one of those hard shell cases. Those looks cool and if your a little bit more crazy then the rest of us then i suggest you get some handcuffs and cuff the case to yourself

You can probably get a nice 12 inch neophreme laptop sleeve for around 25 dollars which was hard to find for me, which does a great job protecting the laptop from scratches, but why not spend a bit more to protect your laptops from scratches and bumps? To me, i plan to use this laptop for a bit longer (2years) so 40 dollars is a great investment! It depends on the owner. Hope this helps guys! Good Luck!!

i like the timbuk2 laptop grip sleeve i got from my university bookstore for $40. it fits perfect, seems to offer great protection, is low profile, has a small handle and detachable shoulder strap.

i'll stick with my $12 gap bag it was made just for the 700m

i love my $25 samsonite laptop bookbag. Small but still enough room for my laptop, books, and snacks.

Thank you for the Shinza review. I have been contemplating a sleeve. I have a Crumpler McBain's Lovechild bag and I like it, but I want something that I can put inside other luggage. Maybe the Shinza is it.

alastor, i'd avoid getting the shinza...at first, i thought it was gonna be good b/c the foam stretches when warm, but conversely it shrinks again when cold and when cold is when it does damage. the stretching puts undo strain at the seems and mine is falling apart there. if getting shinza, i'd recommend the 15" if you have the extended battery. i've had my 12" shinza now for several months (old version). otherwise, go with something someone else recommended above.

i actually do not close the sleeve all the way. i leave it open on it's end that is up when i open my backpack. it allows for quick insert and take out, plus i do not have to try stretching it all the way over. i found this to be the best compromise

hey guys
i'm just wondering about someone mentioning the shinza 12" sleeve scratching the white trim off of the 700m. Is this only because it is stretched so much that the zippers are in contact with the laptop edge, or would it not make much of a difference with the 15"??

And also, is it much safer to carry the laptop in a messenger bag compared to a backpack? There seems to be alot more motion involved with a backpack because you have to "swing it" over your shoulders and movements of that nature.

No,no, *this* is the coolest bag for the 700m. (j/k) Seriously though, for travel, a velcro fastener is teh win for jerking it out of the case at security, my last bag was zippered and really was tough to handle along with tickets, shoes, watch, jacket and belt.

It comes vertical or horizontal for 30 bucks, perfect for a 700m extended.

I actually got the 15' for my 700m (by mistake i must say). I will do a test and see how it works. Although it is made for the 15', it is quite small! Oh well, sometimes bad things happens for a reason!!

the 12" is a pain in the royal arse, and as i wrote, i keep one end open for quick removal and insertion. when cold, the case does not stretch so easily. b/c you have to stretch the 12" over, it puts stress on the seems and mine has torn a bit. plus you will notice that the exterior fabric stretches first before the padding. that is another reason why i just keep the one end open facing up in my backpack.

i would still recommend the 15" for the 700m with 8cell. if you have a 4cell, the 12" fits fine.

Can you post pictures?
I will post pictures of my 700m with the 15`. BTW, how do i post pictures here?
you have to have your pictures on some server that you can plug in the url link: go to reply, then there is a insert picture link, copy and paste the url to the pictures, and there you have it. you can use villagephotos.com or geocities.com for free, but they have limited memory for non payers, or if you have an account that allows you to have webspace, then you can link to that.

there are some photos on here of the 12" and the 700m, so do a search of it. i just don't want to repost pics that are already on here

What size did you get? Do you think it's durabe enough to put in a backpack with some books? I was thinking of the sh_inza, but it looks like the 12" isn't going to fit.

If your like me protection is number 1!

I got the skooba case and it is awsome! It fits and charger and laptop with extended battery perfectly! Those little air pockets are amazing!

I've got a full review of the Skooba case for all you 700m owners.
