How to RMA?

I received an email from one of the sager-guys in California who said that I just had to give him my address and phone number in order to have the 8790 serviced.
I had a couple of questions for those who already RMAed their lappys, before I send mine to death
1) Does Sager require me to have a warranty in order to have the lappy serviced? I received the warranty three months after the laptop so it was no more activable. (No warranty + wasted $100)
2) How am I supposed to physically send the laptop? Do I need to find a decent box somewhere, something to put in it in order to keep the lappy safe against falls and then go to the post office and send it?
3) How longs does it usually take, and how do I make sure they change my motherboard instead of just reflashing the bios and saying it will be allright?

1), If your unit was sent to you less than 1 year ago, you have the basic warranty that is in effect for one year from the shipping date.
2). Yes, Yes, and I would suggest UPS or FEDEX - don't forget the insurance. Bother can provide a proper shipping container for a price. Don't recommend the USPS (Post Office).
3). It depends on the elapased time since purchase. Normally a week or so (not considering the shipping time). Mark your MB it you want and look for those marks when the repaired unit is returned.

Suggest you take photos o the unit & it's condition prior to dispatching for RMA.

sent back yesterday. Will hopefully get it back by the end of next week. Somebody wish luck to a 8790 brother in agony (me)

hmm.. I was wondering, is it normal that Sager does not get in contact with you a week after the RMA? They received my 8790 on the 26th and I've written a couple of emails already to the RMA office (yesterday and today), without any response? Am I supposed to wait a couple of weeks or did they screw up my computer?

If you bought from someone other than them, you might want to try contacting them to see if they can get word on what's going on w/ your notebook. I know it grumpified me when Clevo was less than adequate on the communication end when they had my machine.

Got it from PCTorque. Should I contact them?

If you're itchy about a response, PCT might be able to get ahold of Sager and get word on what's going down and a possible ETA for you. Wouldn't hurt, anyway.

If it was out of warranty they have ten days to look at it, not turn around time. Per their website. You can pay another $45 to have it looked at in 3 days. I know I just did that.

I had a problem with mine, so when Sager asks you to write some personal info about you and the problem with your Sager, I made a comment to call me ASAP when it is fixed and shipped.

Was your laptop sent to CA? Is so, contact David Liu @ Sager (California) at support@sagernotebooks.com; he's who fixed me up good.

just wrote the same stuff to support@sagernotebook.com. I hope that service will answer me.

apparently the rma@sagernotebook.com service is dead, but it's not said anywhere on the website.

David's usually quick on new problems, so I'd expect a reply from him tonight/tomorrow morning.
