Hi, you're the first landgenoot I meet on these fora

What kind of videocard has the lower notebook? And what kind of applications do you plan to use it for?

Personally I like high resolutions, hence the lower notebook with 1600x1200 would take the lead....

the vid card of the ibm is ATI Mobility Fire GL 7800 64MB but im not gonna use it for games but digital recording.

im concerned about the fujitsu being not a top brand like ibm, but its more powerful and has a dvd-burner and widescreen....and its 125 euro cheaper.

keep on choosing, im reading

Most people I know who have Fujitsu swear by them. They are big component manufacturer aren't they? Making HDDs and LCDs I think...

The fujitsu Amilo M series is a Mitac 8050 on drugs. They've enhanced the chassis a bit but it is the mitac 8050. I would get that over the IBM model anyday. Say it is not available in the US

amilo 1425 against acer travelmate 4002 lmi

Hello, I have found the Fujitsu-Siemens amilo 1425 with 80 Giga hd, 1.6 GHz, 512 RAM, ATI 9700 with 128 MB and 15.4" screen for 1172.50 Euros ONLY (from notebookparadies.de)!
But before this, I was considering to buy the ACER TravelMate 4002 LMi at 1.6 GHz, 60 Giga hd, 512 RAM, ATI 9700 with 64 MB and 15" screen that I've found for ONLY 1030 Euros (from notebookparadies.de)!
I am a bit afraid of the fujitsu-siemens because I've heard they used to have quit manu problems. Now, after reading all your comments in here, I really think I should go for it.
I don't want it that much for gaming, but more for writing many hours (i need a good screen) and net surfing.
If anyone has seen them both (I used to have an ACER and it was very nice) please let me know your opinions guys!

i wouldn't touch ibm with a 50ft pole, so i would say the fujitsu, fujitsu laptops always look cool! ibm just costs WAY too much for what you get back in HW, just not worth it.
be carefully with the Fujitsu the build quality it's not the same as the IBM, ibm it's a solid ROCK, another issue it's that the battery of the Fujitsu only last like 2 hours, so be carefully if you need a lot of mobility, buy another lappy,
