I just received my MWave N258KA, which is the Uniwill 258KAO AMD laptop.
I configured it as follows:
MWAVE N258KA (AMD Athlon 64 Mobile)
15.4" WXGA/ATI M11P 128MB/MODEM/LAN/3-in-1 CARD READER/3xUSB 2.0/1xIEEE 1394 (4-MONTH SUBSCRIPTION COUPON; ATHLON 64 MOBILE 3200; 1GB DDR (512MBX2); 40GB (5400RPM) HDD; DVD/CDRW COMBO; MS XP HOME)
Only one problem. My notebook arrived defective. The PCMCIA Port causes a feedback or shorts the speakers, as it is likely a grounding issue. MWave is paying for the return and will replace my notebook. Sux because I have to wait another week.
I spoke to Uniwill and many people on these boards...my problem was one in a million. What luck, eh?
Anyway, I loved the short time I got to use my 258KAO. I am borrowing an Alienware 51m-5500 and I like the screen on the 258KAO better, even though its a lower resolution.
Overall, the 3200 AMD (64 bit) runs about as fast as a P4 3.4GHZ. Plays Doom 3 on high settings at 1024 x 768 just like the Alienware did. Of course, the 1Gig of ram helps.
I like Alienware's case a bit better since its thicker and stylish, though I like the size of the 258KAO more.
Hope this helps you a bit.
