gca-4040n not burning at 4x

Dear all

Has anybody managed to burn a dvd+ with nero at 4x?
I have a gca-4040n ob my i8600 and it says the maximum speed is 2.4x.

I've also tried to update the firmware with the version b107rpc1. Now I have a GWA4040n that supports dvd+ and dvd- (!!!) but still maximum 2.4x in nero.
When I say 2.4x maximum in nero it means without having a blank media in the drive. why doesn't it pick it up as a 4x burner?
What's wrong?

regards
Luca

it IS most likely a media problem. a lot of dvd media is not fully compatible w/ dells burners. Nero will pick the fastest burning speed for the media by default, so just try a different brand.

Try memorex, I have used them in the same burner as you, and has worked everytime.

I've been using imatiobn and even if it says 4x compatible it doesn't let me.
However the maximum speed in nero is still 2.4 even without a blank dvd in the drive.

I'll try memorex the next time then.
