a reply to a PM yesterday...

Luke@PCTorque: "Since Sager has not released specs for it yet to us... it is probably going to be at least a month."
ohh i can't wait till then...my guess is it'll take more than 2+ months to the market. But every good thing takes long to become;

Doesn't the Np7620 have the new Sonoma with PCI graphics?
nope, it has IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® 4 3.0/3.2/3.4/3.6/3.8GHz (LGA775, 800FSB) w/HT
1024KB On-die L2 Cache with PCI-EXPRESS ati x800 or geforce 6800.

I wish at least it'll come with Intel Pentium M Processor with 2 MB cache up to 2.13GHz (770); 533MHz Front Side Bus. But only in my dreams... Hope Sager/Clevo plans to put a Sonoma inside as well.

If either of these were to come with an x800 I would be in laptop heaven!

I'm in Australia and I emailed a local Sager importer here to find out what was in the works. They also sell a couple of other brands, but I referred to the sager directly in my email and this was his response:

Hi Adam.

The new Sonoma chipset Centrino laptops with 256MB 16xPCI Express ATI Radeon X-800 (!) are now in mass production and should be available in an ITC model soon, but I doubt by February. More like about 4-6 weeks away, perhaps sooner.

Keep checking with us weekly. As soon as they come out they will appear on our site!

I hope this helps you out. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Please note that ITC is the brand that they seem to put on all of their models, so I don't know if you would still call it a sager, but they seem to have the same clevo based laptops anyway.

Cheers

You failed to see that they said sonoma chipset centrino laptop. sonoma is amd and centrino is intel so i dunno how u have both on same chipset.
Kingderk, sonoma and centrino are definitely both intel... amd will have turion, but that's not out just yet... cheers

oh wait ur right i was thinkin the other way around sorry.

LOol, Sonoma is Intel....check this Sonoma Platform picture

A nice Sonoma upcoming model is EUROCOM M400A COBRA (Febr2005)
http://web.eurocom.com/EC/server_request=ecf_model(147)

My guess is that Sager wont delay her Sonoma platform coz Sager, Eurocom, ProStar, Voodoo, Alienware use the same notebook maker Clevo.

What !!! Are you serious!!! Centrino Sonoma with X800 IN A NOTEBOOK? please tell me you are telling the truth. X800 + Sonoma in SAGER NOTEBOOK?
Yeah, I know. Sounds crazy, but this is the exact info the rep gave me. Alternatively, there is now a "confirmed" release date of 24/2/2005 for Dell i9300, which will be 17" and have the option of 6800Go. There have been rumours that this will be the GDDR3 card too, but nothing I have heard has confirmed this.

With regards to screen size, the rep did not specify and when I replied to the email, he did not know what size they would be. I would assume they would have a similar release date to the i9300 though, which sounds like its nearest competitor.

Cheers
