Why MWAVE's CL-56 is so cheap. - Page 5

Well, since it's 1/27 now I'd say it's definitely worth the wait of four days to get in on this deal.

I try and do whatever paperwork they need, especially when a bit of money out of my pocket is on the line.

I'm not sure I really trust the order status web-page. It may be automated.

Seriously, are you adverse to using a phone?

Hmm... I should actually call in and make sure mine is being built. Last I knew, my order had been "released to the warehouse" for production.

Hrm. I ordered mine on Monday and it shipped yesterday - didn't have to do any paperwork other than filling mwave's web order form.

Well, I have a multifunction printer/scanner/fax so I went ahead and faxed it to them last night. May as well take a few minutes of effort to avoid any unnecessary delays. I'll give them a call today to make sure it's being built and to get an ETA. You're right, may as well stay on top of it now instead of being irritated when it doesn't ship on time.

Congrats! You've just earned a reputation point. (whatever those are)

It really peeves me when people get mad things they could have easily avoided by doing something right the first time around.

I called them on the phone but they said that you have to email them because they can't get your information through the phone . I hope our orders don't get affected by this out of stock thing!
I'm hopeful that they have enough in stock to cover orders that were placed when the site indicated that they were in stock. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until I learn otherwise. I sent them an email message and I'll give them a reasonable amount of time to reply before I call ... just want to make sure that my fax was received and that they don't need anything else to get me my box.

Mwave has a pretty good reputation, so I'm not overly concerned yet.

Well I realized the phone # I called was the phone order only so I called the online order phone # lol. I asked the lady if she needed any more documentation and she said no since the billing adress was the same as shipping. I also asked her if my laptop would be considered in stock since I ordered it before it became out of stock and she said she doesn't know but its in the assembly phase at the moment. So yeah I'm not too worried either, just concerned

Not sure if it's in stock... but it's in the warehouse for assembly?

VAPORWARE!

Well, I picked it up and now am installing the software. As others have posted before, the verticle viewing angle is limited, but it doesn't bother me. Hope it doesn't bother my wife since this is going to be her notebook. She probably won't noticed being this is her first notebook.

So far, so good. I would post some pictures but I don't know where my wife put the wire to transfer the pictures from the camera to pc. Guess I have to wait for her to get home to do that.

To clarify, this notebook came with a carrying bag, some software (drivers, nero, windvd 4, manual on cd) and the power cord. Initially, I thought I got a defective one since my wireless switch wasn't working. After looking around a bit, I read that I needed to install the ezbutton driver before the switch would work.

The notebook does get a little warm on the bottom after a period time, but it's not hot at all. I haven't noticed any dead pixels yet, but I've only had it for 3 hours.

I'll post more if anything else comes up and will probably post some pictures later tonight. Ok, now I have to get back to finishing install all the windows updates and other software.

New Guy

Hi everybody! Just registered to BB. Have been reading many posts on the CL56.

Question: Are there any retail stores where one can see a CL56 puter (under any brand name) to evaluate the viewing angles and keyboard issues which seem to be problematic for some people, BEFORE one makes the commitment to buy.

Or is this ONLY a model which is sold online?

Don't know about current Dell laptops, but older Inspiron models were made by Compal - my 8200 looks exactly the same as CL56 (obviously thicker - it still has a built-in floppy drive ;-) ) - same screen, same basic layout etc.

BTW, waiting for laptop sucks - now instead of checking mwave order status page I'm checking fedex tracking page ;-)

Here's the relevant line from an email that just came in from MWave:
"Your order has been shipped out on 2005-01-27 by FEDEX-STANDARD OVERNIGHT ..."
I ordered before you and it's not shipped yet! Lame!
They probably just printed my FedEx label before yours. Hang in there, it could absolutely still ship today.
Yeah 9:16 and still no answer.... With my luck something probably went wrong with the notebook

There are some places. ShopRBC.com is a retail store in Ottawa.

According to FedEx tracking, mine just made it to Raleigh, NC, so I'll definitely have it tomorrow ;-)))
