wow, i kinda forgot all about this thread. many things have happened since i last posted. mainly, my micro was stolen from me around feb 25. i've already gotten a new silver micro to replace it, and i've ordered some sharp md33's to replace the stock 'buds.

18 vs 12
Where did you go to school?

plus you can buy extra batteries for the micro and use more than one in a sitting...so it's potentially 18 vs 24 or 18vs 36...

and how is this pertinent anyway? there's nothing all that special about the mini in my opinion, and this thread is about the micro.

recieved my md33's today. first impressions are that they are many times better than the stock buds, and isolate sound very nicely. how long should i let them burn in for?
I don't think there's a set amount of time, but I just hooked them up to my computer, put winamp on random, and let them play for about 3 or 4 days. I'd say put the volume on louder than you would listen to, but not loud enough where it will damage the drivers (you don't want them clipping). After that, I put a song on repeat called 'bass test' taht is all low frequency bass, because that should loosen up the drivers the most. I did this for a night or two. The validity of all this is up for debate, but I see no harm in it. Most burning in is psychological, imo, so just listening to them will help. I can send you that bass song, if you like; just pm me.

And yes, the md33's are far far better than the stock buds. I was impressed with them.

Well im thinking about getting a zen mirco after my mom put my older mp3 player thru the washer...ouch

anyways im just wondering if it gets scratched easy? in my opinion the ipod scratches WAYYYYYY too easy...its horrible, after a week it looks a year old. I hope the micro doesnt scratch easy

One good thing about the Zen Micro is that you can protect it in an altoids tin, if you put foam in correctly then it shouldn't be easy to scratch.

in my experiance they are very scratch-resiliant. i've had my silver one for about a month now and it still looks brand new.

mine's still going strong, everything's working perfectly. however, keep in mind that it will NOT appear as an external drive in epxlorer (or any other program). with the stock firmware you have to use creative's software, and if you upgrade the fiirmware you'll be able to drag/drop music files, but it technically will not show up as an axternal drive. the reason i mention this is because when i bought it i didn't think and now as a result i can't use it in linux because it won't mount.
