Anyone know of a good, small bluetooth mouse besides the Targus one?

Yeah...But it's too big. I want a small notebook one, like the Targus one at Bestbuy. Are there any options besides that one?

logitechs bluetooth mouse has a bit of problem at the moment if you have sp2 installed.
as sp2 comes with bluetooth drivers installed, you will have to remove the ms bluetooth
drivers and install the bluetooth drivers supplied with the logitech mouse for it to work.

also, another annoying thing iv found is that, in case your laptop doesnt have a builtin bluetooth card, the logitech bluetooth transmitter/reciever is awfully cumbersome compared to, say, the microsoft one that is just a lil usbplug.

i ordered the ms bluetooth mouse a couple of days ago. ill post a lil thread and a photo or two of how it works and it looks like once it arrives.

I have the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer for Bluetooth. It's not a mini-mouse, though.

One thing that I had an issue with was that the software that had to be installed to use the mouse rendered the Synaptic touchpad software unusable. I couldn't alter any of the advanced settings. Since portability of my notebook is more important than using this mouse, I uninstalled the Intellimouse software and re-installed the Synaptics driver. I'm going to try to find a different solution. I would try to check on any bluetooth mouse you consider because of this.

Also, my i700m doesn't have built-in bluetooth. I was using a D-Link dongle but it was bluetooth 1.1 instead of 2.0. I use the bluetooth to communicate with my cell phone to get on the internet, and I noticed a significant improvement in download speed with the bluetooth 2.0 dongle that came with the MS Intellimouse. This may be a factor if you plan to use the dongle for other bluetooth devices.

Just some things to consider.

Absolutely not true! I didn't even bother with the Logitech mouse drivers and the MX900 works perfectly with WinXP SP2. Are you speaking from experience or did you "hear" this somewhere?

The whole point of a BT mouse is that you have no dongles, bases, etc. If you're not using the internal BT card, you might as well get a good non-BT RF (cordless) mouse.

I can tell you from experience that the Logitech MX900 works beautifully with the Windows BT drivers for the 8600 from the Dell web-site. It is a terrific mouse and if you do a little research, you will find that the MX900 has been better reviewed, and user-rated than any other BT mouse.

EDIT: With the 700m, you should not get the MX900 unless you are okay carrying around the base station. Then you might as well get the laser MX1000 (unless you want BlueTooth for other reasons and the MX900 base is also a BT hub). A small USB dongle may be preferable for the 700m but I can't speak for the quality of the Microsoft BT mouse.

I'd suggest that you try it out if someone you know has the MX900 before you decide that it is too big. True, some people find it big but I don't have big hands and I have found it to be a great mouse with the best ergonomics. Perhaps the MX1000 (non-BlueTooth) has better ergonomics but I wanted no cords, no dongle, no base station hassle. It was worth it to get internal BT just for the MX900 but unfortunately, that's not an option on the 700m.

My advice: On the 700m go with MX1000 or a cordless mouse that uses a dongle.

Internal bluetooth was not an option on the i700m. Thus I'm albatrossed with a dongle. I'll take a dongle over a cable to my cell phone/mouse/keyboard/Palm T3 any day.

I tried all of the logitech mice at Compusa and I liked them, but the Intellimouse felt better to me. Overall, I'd say get your hands on all of 'em and try em out.

A good suggestion. FYI, the Logitech mice do not disable the touchpad, trackpoint or their corresponding buttons on the notebook.

I don't know which to get:
This Targus bluetooth mouse
OR
This Microsoft non bluetooth wireless mouse
The bluetooth is over twice the price. Is it worth it?

I wouldn't buy anything from Bestbuy. Same exact Targus mouse for almost $20 cheaper, no tax and free shipping here.

Plus, they won't charge you restocking fee if you decide to return it for some reason and WorstBuy will.

It comes down to if you want a BT hub. If not, get a good RF mouse. I also personally find "notebook" mice to be crummy, and ergonomic horrors. It's not like a regular size mouse that fits better in your hand will be so much more to carry.

Maybe take a look here:

These ladies have reviewed more mice then they probably care to admit.

Thermaltake/Bluetake BT500.

I really like the MS notebook wireless mouse. Its not that small compared to many other notebook mice. Measures 4" long compared to my desktop's MS wheelmouse optical at 5", its a little narrower, but the height where it 'cups' into your palm is just right. Its light and moves easily and is sensitive enough for me to use on 3D CAD modelling - something I cant do with standard wireless desktop mice as they are too heavy/insensitive with the 2 batteries. This thing takes one battery and I like the way it switches off when you snap the USB receiver into a nest on the bottom of the mouse.

I would look this <a href:"http://www.anycom.com/anycom/index.php?lang=en">one </a>
and select ANYCOM Blue Mini Mouse BTM-100

pretty nice...

I use the MS IntelliMouse Explorer for BlueTooth (not the previous generation MS Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer for BlueTooth) & can safely say it's the best mouse I've used.
I found the BT500 too small for me.

Thanks for the link, PedramK.

I can tell you that my experience directly contradicts theirs. As stated earlier, I have had no problem using the Logitech mouse with WinXP SP2. In one instance (i8600 notebook), I did not install the Logitech drivers and the mouse worked perfectly right away. In the other (Dimension 4600 desktop), I installed the Logitech drivers and they worked just fine with WinXP SP2 as well. I have WinXP Pro SP2 on both machines, with all updates. It is possible that the reviewers tried some older drivers from Logitech. At any rate, this is not an issue any longer, if it was one before.

I got my MX900 used from ebay for $39. Looks/works like new.

EDIT: You have some nice pictures on your web-site, BTW.
