Mobility X300 In Sager 3790?

Thread Starter
Anyone know when this graphics card might be offered in those 3790 style thinner laptops? I could go for either a PCTorque (3790) or a Hypersonic ( Aviator CQ6 ) notebook, I just don't want to purchase one with a 9700m and find out that they updated the graphics card 2 weeks after my purchase.
9700-using laptops are never going to take X300s, as those parts will almost certainly always be PCIe only and almost none of the 9700-using laptops are upgradeable anyways.

I don't think anyone really knows when X300 using ultraportables are going to come available.

kinda on topic: does anyone know if sager will upgrade the 3790 with sonoma/pci-e, or just replace it with a new lappy? here's hoping for the former.

Sager said that they wouldn't upgrade any of the current laptop. They will all be replaced.

Ok, they can't just put an X300 in because that's PCI-E and it's an AGP board. If they had a PCI-E centrino laptop, (which yes they will surely make someday), they could put it in but they would probably use something like an X800, which is actually worthwhile.

The X300 is not an upgrade from a mobile 9700, quite the contrary it would be a step backwards in terms of performance.

is it gonna be possible to have an x800 with 256mb in a centrino laptop?
the dell 9300 will have a 6800, so an x800 will be a possibility

It would be hard to upgrade it because they would have to call it something like 3793... and thats fugly

Sager would never put a second rate card like the X600 in a laptop. It will be X800.

Lower performance does not mean worse in laptops.

Power usage is a factor. Thermal loss is a factor (usually linked to power usage.) Sticking a battery rapist like the x800 into a Pentium M laptop means that it's PURELY made as a different "breed" of DTR.

Yeah, most likely the 9700 replacement for non-DTR notebooks will be the mobility X700, which has speeds a little better than a -desktop- 9700 Pro, which isn't too shabby.

The X600 isn't "second rate" it is slightly more powerful than the current 9700 that is offered in the 3790. If it is upgradeable then that would be even better. But don't speak about graphic cards if you're that ill-informed about them.
