There was a series of antitrust suits against intel about the business practices outlined above, the last round of suits came to an end in 2002:

However, last year, EU has reopened the anti-Intel case, and we have yet to see if this bears any consequences against intel in the future. Of course, most of the details will not be available to the public.

Do you guys think there will be any nice laptop setups for portable gaming by August/September (college starts) with the Turion? More specifically, one with the x700? Otherwise I might have to go with Sonoma...

Sonoma has only a few months of life.
When Lancaster and Turion arrives, in asociation with Win64, the kingdom of Intel goes down !!!

Yep, nothing like like using the calculator in Win 64 to calculate 2 x 3 .000000007 seconds faster than the 32 Bit processors

and all the application that made for 64 bit power, 32 bit =
and AMD64 can truly expand its potential and increase even more gaming and muti-task performance even now it is kicking P4 EE's ass (in gaming) already.

No, but 64-bit will represent a major improvement for computational heavy apps (e.g. audio/video encoding). The possibility to address much more virtual memory will also benefit most data intensive apps (e.g. audio/video editing).

The new AMD Turion 64 platform has been positioned as a 64-bit alternative to Intel’s Centrino. FIC is expecting to receive Turion mobile chips from AMD, ready for notebook shipments in the second half of 2005. According to AMD’s original announcement on January 10, the company’s aim is to have the Turion 64 available in the first half of this year.
