Closing Lid Causes Awful Whiteout Issue

Thread Starter
My 9100 with the Omega drivers on a 9700 128mg card has this issue where as I shut the lid, the screen literally begings to white out. By this I mean that it turns dark, then the center turns bright and distorts everything until its all white and gross. It looks like it is doing damage to the LCD and I am now afraid of closing the lid. This sucks because closing the lid and forgetting about the laptop is a big bonus of having a laptop. Any ideas?

Don't close the lid. Sounds like some kind of power issue. Phone Dell asap.

I've gotten that a couple times while OCing the video card and underclocking the processor. Never while closing the lid I agree w/ D4L, call Dellwood.

If you close the lid, then how do you see the screen changing and becoming distorted?

Do you have the Power Management set to 'Standby' when the lid is closed? I have seen that on my 9100 without closing the lid as it slid into standby. Now I don't use standby anymore...just hibernate.

Might want to try reinstalling (eg uninstall and then install) the video driver.

If nothing works, do the old faithful: reformat!
