I suggest you go to a Dell kiosk or find someone with a 9200. Then you can get an idea of how heavy the 9200 feels. I think you would be surprised how light it is for a 17" notebook. Also, the screen doesnt look gigantic, it's the perfect size. I would never want anything smaller or bigger. I have had an 8600 and a 9200. Although you can tell the 9200 is bigger, it really doesnt feel any heavier. The 8600 or something similar is gonna be just as heavy with the charger and other stuff.

Also, the 600m replacement would probably get an X300. Thinkpads and other light notebooks coming out have the X300 so it only makes sense that the 600m will have the same card as well.

Yes - I find the keyboard too small. I also find the screen too shiny (reflective) and it loves collecting dust. The 700m does not have the capability for internal BT and its not for gaming.

It has a nice build and a bright screen, and it is very light. I agree that the keyboard response feels good. I wanted to like it but the keyboard was too cramped for me.

I speak from experience, currently having owned a 700m for 3 months. I bought a 700m and an i8600, and I am selling the 700m.

Dell is probably going to get rid of the 600m and replace it with a 800m or something like that. Which also more than likely won't have an X800 (if it is the same weight/size as the 600m) but it will probably have a X600 or 6600.

I just got a i8600.. and I'm going for the 8600 for a college people. Its pretty light, its wide but as long it fits with people's backpack, who cares? To me, its pretty well built, won't bend like the HP i have... just a awsome computer....

I havent test the performance yet... so don't bother asking me that

Finally have some free time away from class...

Ok, back to the 700m. I like it so far... I don't really have a problem typing on the keyboard but I do miss the 'page up/down' buttons. I like the reflective screen but I think the screen size needs to be around 13.5" or so. Everything is a little too small on the screen. It is very quiet and doesn't run as hot as my 5150 but does get a little warm up my lap. It is very fast and I think it will be faster after a format and reinstall of XP (w/o all the dell garbage on it). I wish the touch pad was 'widescreen' like the screen itself. My battery doesn't feel too sturdy. I kinda wish it had built in BT. I personally don't think that 1 DIMM 512 Mb of ram is enough so I plan on ordering another stick. I would like to wait for a larger 7200 Gb hard drive until I decide to upgrade from this 40Gb. As always, the dell 1350 works flawlessly.

I don't know anything about burning DVDs so I can't really comment on the dvd burner. I guess it is time to learn how to use it.
