Asus M5N/ S5N replacements?

Hey guys,

I've been very interested in getting a good quality, sturdy ultraportable or thin and light for school. I've got a desktop for anything graphics intensive so I'm willing to have the integrated graphics; but I wanted something with some CPU power, a 5400 or 7200 rpm drive (or a notebook that accepts them), a decent limit to how much RAM I can stick in, and preferably one of those small 13" or so widescreens.

Now, when I think of a small widescreen I think of Sony (S260) and HP (dv1000?). But the Asus S5N and M5N really caught my eye. I know they're 12.1" standard aspect ratio, but the thickness, battery life, and carbon fiber would make me happy.

Now, for my few questions....

Where can I find configurable S5N? I've only been able to find barebones systems.

Are there any small widescreens (12.1" - 14.1" or so widescreen) other than the HPs or Sony's that have also have decent battery life (can be with an extended batter like the Asus's) and don't cost a fortune (nothing over 2200 or so before tax)? PS I do not want a Dell 700m, or any other Dell for that matter.

Is Asus coming out with replacement models for the S5N or M5N sometime in the next few months? I know they've been out for a while now...

And I'm worried about the keyboards on these things since they're so thin. I can't stand the Sony S series keyboards beause they're too shallow. And I don't like a lot of flex in keyboards either.

Thanks in advance

You can get a configurable S5N @ www.agearnotebooks.com. So far that is the only site I have been able to find that has it w/ config. options. Your other option is purchase either a whitebook or a pre-configed one (the 256RAM/40g one) and upgrade it yourself.

As far as replacements... not that I know of yet, however, Asus is coming out with the W3N (http://www.digit-life.com/news.html?112123), which is bigger and heavier than the S5N and M5N, but shares a design similar to the M5N and will have a dedicated GPU and is still relatively small (14.1in and 4.8lbs).
