Well good luck with PCTorque. I ordered my 9860 December 25th and I don't even have an estimated ship time. They keep telling me "next week" "blah blah blah bullshit and they keep pushing it back. Now I'm falling behind in school work and I'm getting pissed as hell.

We can only pass on what we hear, Sager is completely out of stock on these units. Until they get them in we can't send any out.

Why is Sager out of stock, did they sell much better than they thought they would? (May be a dumb/obvious question, but I'm looking for confirmatoin on that. Could be something else like a manufacturing breakdown or some specific part became unavailable from a supplier or an internal recall.)

dude, go buy another one

don't blame a reseller for a shortage. Heck, don't blame a manufacturer. Don't you think they would be happy to sell you one? don't you think they'd be happy to make as many as possible and sell bunches?

If you need one for school so badly, then buy another machine that is available. You can get a Dell or Toshiba, etc, etc almost immediately. Walk into Comp USA and you can walk out with a laptop.

Obviously your school is not that important that you would sign up for a class with an expectation that you need a laptop, then blame the manufacturer for not making enough for you to ensure you have one for school.

I'm sure everyone wished they would be in stock. Supply and demand is how it works. Try ordering a new Mustang? back ordered for six months. How about a Harley? THey were backordered for two years at one point.

from reading gobstoppers previous posts over the past week(s) i think one of his major problems is when he ordered, there was no mention of any backorder, in fact it seems like pctorque took quite a few orders before they even bothered to inform anyone that there was a huge backorder, and now after waiting all this time he'd probably get the 9860 quicker then anything else if they do indeed ship next week (i'm not including retail because lets face it, only a fool buys ANY computer from a retail chain)

Also, the estimated ship date got pushed back three times. That's what's really pissing me off. I keep getting estimates and they keep getting pushed back. How can they get it wrong three times? And the first time I was guaranteed that Sager would be able to fulfill ALL CURRENT ORDERS. Then they tell me I missed the cutoff.

How is that possible if Sager said they would be able to fulfill all current orders?! Seriously, how hard is it? They look at the number of notebooks they're getting. let's say 15. And they look at the number of orders they have. Let's say 19. So by simple math, they should be able to figure out that they won't be ablt to fulfill the last 4 orders. It seems Sager doesn't know how to add/subtract because they said they would be able to send out all orders yet they didn't.

Unfortunately we have no control over stock at all, this includes how many come in, when they come in, how many are ordered.... ect. Now if we get told that all current orders will ship, that is what we will tell people. If we get told they will be in next week, that's what we will tell people. Now if you in some way or another feel that it is the reseller's fault for the product not being in stock at the manufacturer please explain it to because I would really like to understand your point of view. Or if that us trying to provide the latest information about stock situation to the customer is a bad idea, I would also like to hear your side of the story on this. We try our best to find out when stock is coming in in a situation like this, unfortunatley delays happen and back orders are created, and its usually not in our control.

i dont see the point in this whole crying. pc torpue told me, pc torque told me that. if you run a little search with all the resellers - nobody can provide them at the moment. everybody will tell you what they got told by sager. for that matter - it isnt only sager, same is true for eurocom, prostar..... what would lead me to the assumption that clevo has a problem to supply them. means in fact, if you wanna know what the prob is - call/email clevo!!! one of my thoughts is simply, that they didn't expect a demand that high in this priceclass and struggling now to fullfill orders. or maybe they have a supply or manufacturing problem of their own. sure it is a pain in the butt for everybody waiting - but really no reason for the big blame game. for most ppl the situation is most likely not even that they have no pc/lappy available, but the fact I WANT MY SCREAMMACHINE!!! it sure was for me, sitting on a bunch of other computers. and its the same rite now waiting for number 3 with the 6800rev2.

just on an afterthought - maybe you would prefer they didnt tell you anything?? and it just comes when it comes??

You accepted the order.

maybe their just producing them right now for their reserved stock(backups). So if you really want one, go jack the warehouse jk. who knows what sager is doing , maybe they wont send any out until they feel they will be able to kep up with demand? Maybe theres like 10 warehouses filled with them and they just wanna make sure evryone gets one without wait. Perhaps im wrong and they just like to read these forums and laugh at people that are in a wait "phase"? Even if that were true , were all still gonna get one eventually.Hopefully theyre just building them until theyre ready to match the demand for the next month or so of the 6800-2, maybe they even have them already! all in all theyre a good company.

well if they dont know that there was a problem why wouldnt they accept the order. i was at the point also thinking about another one and have to say that my impression was that you got the infos as they became available. if you know that a product is in short supply and still order it, you taking a gamble how long it will take. i am sure if you ask, you will get your money back. it just want do anything for you, since NOBODY has the 9860 at the moment. how retarded you got to be to get that???? i am sure you would have ordered somewhere else, if you could get it. maybe you can get a restock, since every dumbf*ck believes he has to rma his machine as soon as a new screw becomes available on the bottom of the battery compartment. ever thought about that? or do you need also the x800, which is actually in very short supply at this point. so it could even take longer to get your lappy!
and before you acuse me to work for pct or get paid to write that (enough dumbos out there will poss) i not even buy my compters from them - but my reseller has exactly the same prob.

want an alternative? dude, buy a dell!

As odd a theory as this seems, it could be that Taiwan based Clevo has had problems due to the big a$$ wave that smashed into their country. I am not sure how the internal structures of the company works, how close they are to the beach, or if they have suffered a severely reduced work force. However, it may be something to consider. Also, as LSDeep pointed out, No One has any 9860's in stock. It could be their popularity and relative newness, coupled with a possible catastrophic blow to HQ, may have contributed to a situation in which an inventory was unable to be built. Thus, the current crises.

But I also think that the moon landing was a hoax, so you never know.....
