9860 backorder thread. - Page 5

What about the 9860's that people are returning within the 30 day time window, to get the upgraded ATI card? What happens to those systems? I assume they are not added to the pool, as they are refurbs. Are those refurbs available for those who are on the wrong side of the waiting list?

Just a thought, I am not in line.

As far as I know returns are stripped for parts and the parts are used for warranty service, it's kinda like recycling.

Wow. I would have never thought of that.... unless i was asked.

So by parts, you're meaning everything, including the screen, mobo, and chassis. Not just RAM, GPU, CPU, and disk, right? Thanks for this insight.

I am not sure, i don't make it my business to run Sager and they treat us with the same respect and don't run our business. We have never had an issue with used parts being put in new orders if that is what you are digging at.

That's good to know...I was getting tired of calling my reseller every day. Hopefully I will get mine next week if not the week after.

Sorry for pushing... and now I'm pushing again.

Is it possible Sager (really Clevo) is starving the pipeline because of all the 30 day returns from the video card upgrades? Since the components can only be used on maintenance, as you mentioned, then there is significant loss. I wouldn't blame them.

They said all, not some or a few, but all. So that was their intended meaning as far as i know.

Will some of the orders be filled before that or on Feb 4th are they going to overload their currior? I ask because I am going out of town on the 7th and I need to have this to take with me. Also does it ship to you first or straight to me?
They said orders will start shipping this friday.
You didnt answer though, if you recieve them first or they go straight to the buyer. Also do they know who 'I' am. Meaning do they have information that you sold the laptop specifically to me or is it just an order number. If it is just an order number than this would indicate that it would ship to you first. Is this correct. Also will I get a tracking number. Who will supply this to me.

BTW Yes I am ready for my laptop!
If you are in CA the notebook goes to us 1st, if you are outside of CA the notebook goes to you directly. Tracking numbers are provided by us and are sent out the following business day after the order is shipped.

Luke,
I see you have a 3.6 in your 9860. Is the 3.8 not worth the price?

When I talked to Adam, I believe, the first day I called he said that they only ever had about 8 of them. Couple that with the price and the mediocre improvement and I can see why he has a 3.6. Although the $145 Adam thought would be better spent elsewhere that is why I went with the 3.4.

Well mine was our demo model, the 3.8 was not available at the time. As stated their was only a few 3.8's available, where as i could have got one... i didn't wanna rob one of those 4-5 people that got one. Plus, I don't think it is worth the money.
