MJ7700 Complaint

it has become PAINFULLY OBVIOUS that we are paying thousands of dollars to beta test, and ive ****ing had it.

i am totaly disgusted with what is going on here. there is a detailed post in the tech support forum of why im so angry. it can be found here
http://notebookforums.com/showthread...1&page=1&pp=15

but basiclay here is what has happened to me since i recieved my alienware at the end of december
1. 3 days after i had it, it broke, i had to send it to the repair depot
2. i get it back 2 weeks later, i have it for 2 days, the same crash /blue screans happen
3. i spend about 48 hours straight on the phone with tech support dancing around having me repeate things and call them back only to talk to people who dont know whats going on and give me even more wrong advice
(there only current solution to any problem is " better reformat")
4. theyve had me reformat 4 times now LOL. so their next solution is
it must be your windows reformat CD!!! yes more delays so we can waist your fuking time! then i inevitably ask them well didnt you install a fresh windows copy on here when you had it. they say yes and go hmmmm maybe its your ram sticks. NOPE HAD ME CHECK THEM ONLY 500 TIMES MATE.
5. i am leaving the country to go to school soon, i NEED ABSOLUTLEY NEED A WORKING LAPTOP FOR ****** CG FILM SCHOOL BY FEB 4TH.
6. they tell me...ummm we dont know whats wrong finally but send it back to us after over a week of dancing around and we can have it to you by feb 9th. ps we dont ship out of the country............................
7. i cant afford this, after months of planning i am going to have a horrible start in one of the most important times of my life because i am missing a required computer. all because i chose not to buy the schools laptop, i chose to buy alienwares product. and they arent capable nor do they seem like they care enough to help me out.
you cant tell me alienware cant ship me out a new working mj7700 tomorrow if they really wanted to. because they could.
8. also i asked if i could get my money back since ive only had the computer in my possesion for under 2 weeks. and i can !. hey maybe some light at the end of the tunnel
9. GUESS WHAT I HAVE TO PAY A 500 DOLLAR RESTOCKING FEE IF I WANT MY MONEY BACK , LO ****** L

in conclusion, im not the only 1 with these problems if you read the thread i posted at the top. alienware does not know how to trouble shoot these machines yet and if you buy one you will be paying out your *** to be a beta tester. i wish i knew this before trusting this company with my future.

Maybe 10 problems with the new system with thousands and thousands systems sold by alienware, and maybe millions over the world ??

U're just unlucky, so just make the count, the "beta" has successfully passed except for a few minors guys
post #3 of 42
woah gkaine, sorry to hear about it. i'm not sure what jclausse is saying...just ignore him.

if you need more help, ask one of the aw reps on the boards...they seem helpful. i probably wouldn't eat the restocking fee...maybe AW can offer you a new machine...since i think there is a rule among many electronic dealers that if you send out your equipment for repair at depot a certain number of times and the problem is not fixed upon return, you're allowed to revceive a brand new machine...look into it.

I meant that 7700 is a very nice sytsem, this guy doesn't recommand the system cause he had bad experiences, but it's not a frequent probs, there are many many customers that are happy with this system.

This guy is just unlucky that received a faulty system.

Right ?

Please, please PM "Alienware Juan" I can imagine how unhappy you are, however I know he can find a way to help you.

i really dont know what you can do at this point. i have been forced up the creek without a paddle here. i am sick to my stomach because this is going to put a serious bump in my education which i have invested 100k in loans.
i cant afford this and theres nothing i can do. the optical drive just failed today after they had me do another reformat last night. now i cant even install lan drivers to get the computer into working order and they are having me ship it back to the repair depot.
i will not get it in time for school, i cant beleive after it was in the repair depot that its still having these problems. they also replaced the optical drive and stripped the screws around it while it was there, there is also a stripped screw on the door to swap out ram. the list goes on. i am so angry and lost i dont know what to do. i did not pay 4000 for the worste computer ive ever recieved in my life.

Well look quit acting like a woman and PM Juan with your info he has an amazing reputation around these forums for helping many people some in situations worse than yours. If you have an doubts about him being a real AW employee ask around the boards see what he has done for people. But quit whining and move toawrds a solution rather than being so negative.

I doubt the 7700 has sold anywhere near 1 million, it would surprise me if it sold more than 200,000

It can't be even close to that either. AW's annual revenues are about $100M including all computers they sell over a full year. If you average out that a 7700 costs, say, $4000, then 200,000 of them would be $800M. I'd guess it's less than 5,000 of them at this point.

gkaine,

Alienware-Steve is an Official Alienware Representative. You can trust him 100%.
If a non-verified person asks for Personal account information in this forum, every attempt is made to remove them before any damage can be done. Its a long story, but I have actually banned an Alienware VIP before. Its funny to joke about now but the security of a forum member's personal info is not taken lightly.

well ive contacted the people you guys suggested.
this is what has happened since i last posted
they gave me the option of sending me the optical drive with a repair man who would ONLY replace the optical drive and leave me on my own with everything else, and since the optical drive broke AFTER the random lockups and was the ONLY thing they fixed the first time i had my doubts this was the only problem. so they promised me vip status and had me send it in. they promised theyd have it to me by the 4th of feb.
1. well it sat in their depot for a week.
they said " sorry waiting for replacement parts" when they told me they could have sent me one overnight...WHY?
2. i had my adress changed 4 nights ago to ship to me in canada, i also emailed the guy who was working on my computer about the adress change, i call yesterday and they tell me oh sorry we *just* changed the adress and cant send it out yet because it needs a new box and a new label so we will have to wait till monday. .. . ...... . .. . . . .. . .
3. i am in canada, i have no computer i am at an internet cafe school begins, i will not have my computer in time and their so called vip status was just a shipping label nothing more. they have failed at meeting everyone of the deadlines theyve given me this only gets more horrible and to top it all off im betting i get it back and it still crashes because all they did was replace the optical drive and thats all they did the first time.

ive spent 4000 dollars on a lemmon, and 100k in loans for school and living expenses being here all so alienwars computer can fail on me after i plan for months in advance and them not care.
if i could goback i would just get the school computer, sure it was 3000 for a pos but at least it would have ran and been on time. i dont have time to deal with a company who doesnt have all its stuff together. how can they possibly claim they put their systems through all these tests when they still send out total lemmons ? im so angry uhg

and no offense to the guys you had me message on here but all they did was "check" the status of it. they really offered me no help at all. sorry i was expecting something more i guess.

I have a $300,000 house, and I bought an alienware to sit in it. Well, they told me to depot the computer, so I wasted $300,000 to buy the house to hold it in...

Your education does not hinge on having a computer. I got through engineering school without one.

Keep your pants on g, not having a computer for the first couple days at clown college won't ruin your prospects for education. I think all they cover the first week is the red nose and big shoes anyway. You should have your computer before they get to the daisy in the lapel that squirts water.

Seriously, everything will be okay. We know it's inconvenient, but it's not the end of the world.

One love g.
