I would say this is evedince of two things.
1. Dell is incentives people to buy a 9200 now and not wait. (those in the know of 9300)
2. Dell is incentivising pricing to clear out inventory. (those who are in the market now)

I bought my i9200 3 weeks ago, and am checking prices every couple days.
End price never changes. O.K, yes it has gone down $40 after coupons and discounts at one point, but I wouldn't call that any clear out incentives.
December 30th paid end price of $1478 after $250 instant discount for 1.8GHz (added $100 to base price), 60 gig(free upgrade from 40 gig), 512 meg (free upgrade from 256meg), and 1350 wireless (added $29 to base price), free shipping. Today same thing is $1448.
They are not clearing out the i9200. Why would they?
The same i9200 could still sell to many for $1450 even after the $2000 for entry level i9300 comes out. When they start dropping the price of i9300, then you will see clearance prices on the i9200. Who says the i9300 has to be a replacement for the i9200? Why not offer both?
If I could exchange my i9200 for a i9300 with at least same performance specs, and only have to add in $300, I still would not do it. Technically, the i9200 was $400 over my planned budget of $1000, but I couldn't resist 17" performance laptop. $1800 not gonna happen, and I doubt it would start off that low anyhow. Many will gladly choose the i9200 over the i9300 if that's all they can afford.
