Well Shinra, this makes two of us. I ordered the 5300 as well, and can't wait to see the 20.1" monitor!

I am, however, getting a little skeptical about the ship date. I bought this machine as a surprise for my wife in December, but I doubt it'll get here by Valentine's Day.

12/24: Phase 1
1/5: Phase 3 (no phase 2 notification)
1/9: Phase 4
1/14: Phase 5
1/19: Phase 6
1/24: Phase 7

Promised ship date: 2/6 - BETTER PICK UP THE PACE

(BTW - a phone call to support today confirmed that I'm still in Phase 7, and the unit is still due to ship 2/6 - 10 days from now )

These phases just seem bogus to me - seems more like a way to string the customer along for several weeks until they get around to building it. Funny how I get an update every 5 days. BTW, Does it really take 5 days to inspect my manuals , cables, and CDs? Now I'm waiting another 5 days to wait in another queue to wait (another 5 days?) for assembly to begin. Riiiigghhtt. My bet is I'll get notification on 1/28 that it's in phase 8, 2/4 for phase 9, etc, etc... and I'll fianlly get it in March.

What chaps my buns is that if this machine is as cool as it is made out to be, I'll order a second one for myself. I'm just not sure I can wait another 2-3 months for that one to arrive. Remember Moore's law for Chrissakes!

Oh well, I feel better now that I've vented. And if I get the system on or around the promise date, I'll be sure to give these guys positive strokes.

Gee - go figure. It's 1/28 and my 5300 just went into phase 8 just as I predicted. Well, I've waited 4 days to get in line to wait some more... we'll see if they can get to Phase 9 before 2/4...

Wow, Shinra, you ordered your system 17 days after I did and just blew right by me to Phase 13. You must be totally stoked!!

I'm 3 days from the promise date and still on Phase 9. Guess I'll have to go to Plan B for an alternate gift idea.
