A few Benq products (mouse x2, mini KB) reviewed

I wanted the Benq Minimouse for my laptop, so naturally I had to buy a couple of other things:

The Benq Mini Keyboard was first....and "mini" is the right word.

Here's the stuff it comes with....USB keyboard, CD, manual

I told you it was small (next to 15" Toshiba work lappy)

Tried the straight USB install without using the CD...works great, even the shortcut buttons. Add the CD software to set a few more options, like the on-screen display of the volume:

Conclusion: Great keyboard, plastic construction but pretty solid. Keyboard is very responsive, similar to laptop keyboards. Very light, great for transport, but a touch small for the larger handed fellow (or gal).

On to the optical mini mouse...with built in wireless usb key. USB 'key' slips inside the mouse for storage (with a handy hinged door to keep out garbage when the USB key is being used). storing the key in the mouse turns the mouse off, great for batteries. Push on the top 'button' to eject USB key.

Also comes with a cd and manual and carrying bag:

Add the two included batteries:

and it lives...again, no CD installation needed, but more options if you do:

Conclusion: This mouse is tiny - no way a regular sized men's hand is going to use it comfortably. It is great for portability, works flawlessly, very cool design, lighted scroll wheel, easy wireless setup. Great value, for the smaller handed or companion to an ultraportable.

Now for the Regular size Benq optical wireless mouse: Pretty comfortable, not quite as smooth and solid as Logitech's, but pretty nice - I like the rubbery scroll wheel, much better to the touch than the hard plastic wheels, with perfect-interval clicks.

Compared to others:

More comparisons:

conclusion: As I mentioned, pretty comfortable, decent construction, great rubbery scroll wheel (no lights on top). Not quite up to Logitech standards, but a nice mouse. Wireless hookup is easy and does not require any drivers - not even for the wireless 'puck'. Flawless easy setup. Puck is very light and requires no batteries.

So, an A+ for the mini mouse, a solid A for the keyboard if your hands are small enough, probably a B+ for the regular size mouse due to construction.

Awesome summary there, CS... I think that mini-mouse is very well thought out; true, it's small and uncomfortable, but in a pinch and on the road, it's a decent trade-off.

Most full-sized mice I've seen just cannot hold a candle to Logitech's MX700 (or betters, haven't tried the 1000). M$'s mice have gone to garbage (put the "click" back into the wheels, damnit). These are my own observances, but I appreciate your review here.

I also know exactly what you mean in your opening phrase "so naturally I had to buy a couple of other things" - LOL
