is That a moderate water cooling kit? Does it give me what i need? Can i, as a rookie, install it myself? Can i get it so it cools my vidoe card too(AGP)

Thanks

I also just want to OC my 6800GT and 3.2 presscott. I only have one 120mm fan in the back and Intel heatsink. My budget is about what the zalman costs unless you want to bid on my ipod and buy it for like 300$

I actually know someone that runs that cooler. In fact he loves it, it's extremely quiet and very efficent. He hits around 27 ~29c on hit 3.0 478. Probably would have considered one myself if they shipped with a LGA775 block.

And yes you can add a GPU cooler, your choice of video cards will set the price on that. 6800's are around $145 for the block, ATI's are around $60, and you simply order some extra hose, and clmaps or fittings, and put it in-line to return to the cooling tower.

You can get the GPU block from www.dangerden.com They can also show you on their page some more "complicated" DIY setups like the run I run.

It's a self contained system, thats the best part. The instructions tell you how to bleed it and everything. As you can see you get the CPU cooling block, and to add the GPU cooler you just going to splice it in-line after the CPU water block. You will need to drill two 3/8's holes in the back of your case, or drill out a blanking panel to run the return lines.

Read this thread: http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=57959&page=3

Also PM "NovaShine" on this board, he is a great technical resource on watercooling. Gave me some great pointers in the thread above, also you can check out my water setup in that thread as well, it uses two blocks so you can see how it's hooked up.

You'd think for the price of that kit they would include a bracket like Koolance and Cooler Master do...

Yea I know, thats why I thought it was worth mentioning. It is kinda weird, also for the price you are really buying the tower. The guy I know has already upgraded water blocks at this point. The one in the kit is a good starter block, but as I am sure you know you can get better from Danger Den, or PolarIce and such.

If you are looking for a good external water cooling kit, Check out the Koolance Exos. It's much cheaper and it is a good system.

The Zalman is a decent setup, though ive heard things about it having a weak pump and having crapp waterblocks. But that Zalman setup seems to be getting good temps so there's nothing to complain about.

The exos has recieved many good reviews and ive heard alot of good things about it on multiple forums. I havent seen one in the flesh, but from all i gather, it's a good system.

Some of the 1A cooling kits are also pretty good, especially the all internal one with a radiator that fits in 2 5.25" bays. Those perform well, using a very good quality pump.

I think that watercooling is all about quietness without sacrificing performance, so if a watercooling system is noisy but gets decent performance, it's still not worth it.

As for the zalman not including the back plate, i beleive they do. They include a PCI backplate that has 2 holes for the tubes to pass through.
