Another thing to be aware of, as I learned about 1 year ago (and just in time!) is that HP has a very poor method of naming products and identifying software.
The first time I searched for updates for my Pavilion laptop, I had no Idea how many other Pavilion models were out there. After locating the 'correct' downloads, I noticed several of the updates did not apply to my system so I attempted to verify I was at the correct page for my system. I found several different product names in various locations. (I do not recall all of the various names in these locations)
top-right of keyboard:Pavilion N5340
bottom of notebook:xe & omnibook xxx
Each of the product names found on or in the system were listed on various HP update sites which all had similar software, many with the same name (different size/date) Glad I checked before attempting to upgrade my BIOS!
BTW -I complained to HP about this and was also treated like I was in pre-school, but I noticed that BIOS updates were not available for download from their site for about 2 weeks.
