Release date for Sony VAIO GRT190G????

Any news on the release date for the Sony VAIO GRT190G? I've contacted Sony 2-3 dozen times at least and they don't have a clue. I thought it would have been out by now. Maybe their having configuration problems. Anyway, just curious!!!!

Believe me , you aren't the only one in the dark about Sony's release dates or the neverending attempt to find someone at Sony that actually knows what products Sony is selling.

You should check a couple of posts I made about when the 190G was first announced sometime in May I believe with a June or mid July release at the LATEST. Obviously it is nowhere to be seen, and supposedly like you heard they were having numerous configuration and software issues with Giga Pocket and their new Xbrite LCD screen.

Nobody at Sony knows anything about the products they are selling, and all they do is throw you sales pitches about buying something or how to apply for financing.


I guess, what is really new in that area?

I think I'll stay away from Sony. If they are having that many problems just getting it released there is no telling how many potential problems you could have with it once you got it.

Yeah if you thought that was bad. If you check reviews of the GRT series laptops on I think Cnet, or epinions there are numerous complaints about recovery cd issues, and just general software compatibility problems.

The GRT 160 and 190G are in the same line up as the GRT's without the Xbrite lcd technology, and maybe they are just taking extra time to make sure everything works good.

You might want to wait until a major retail store carries a GRT 160 so you can go in and play with it a bit , see how it looks and get a general feel for it. You never know, you might really like it.
