Radeon X700 Pro

Thread Starter
Ok, my old Card is a ATI Radeon 9800 (non pro). I was going to pick up a X700 PRO the other day, but thought i would ask about it first.

Does anyone have one, and how good is this card.
Compared to my old card, will there be a difference?
Should I save and go with the X800 or maybe a Nvidia Chip Card???

Thanks

not an exact comparison to yours, but a good read:

and isn't the X700 PCI-E only?

Do you have a PCI-e slot??

If not then your SOL on ATi for the time being, so you will have to upgrade your motherboard to upgrade to this video card. I know for a fact that there are no AGP x700's out right now. Go with nVidia, they are better performer's any way. 6600GT is the equivelant of the x700 Pro

I had the X700 while I was trying to find the X800 PE that I have now. It was pretty slow compared to the 6600 that my buddy had and that AMDZEN mentioned. It was seemed to be about as quick as my other mahcine with a plain old 9800 in it.

Yeah, if you don't have PCI-e, then your only ATi option is the AGP version of the X800. Both the X700 and X600 are PCI-e only. (Don't know about the X300, but you'll probably want one better anyway.)

Get the X800 then if your an ATI guy, I have had some issues with mine. I had an RMA early on and some driver problems, but overall it's a very quick card.
