Which Ultraportable Notebook would you choose? - Page 2

I used to be an ultraportable freak. I've owned a bunch of porteges, librettos, and IBM X-series. I'm really happy with the Dell 700m at around 4lbs. Yeah, it's not *ultra* portable, but it's light enough, has the optical drive, has a real CPU, great battery life (with the 8-cell), and a very nice display. Oh, and it cost me less than $700.

Ah, but I have a P1120 and a TR2. Can't get much smaller than the P1120 (except for those oh so cute JVC741s).

Ah I saw someone today with that. Ok I admit that its a bit smaller than my X505, but not as thin or as SEXY!!

True, but it did only cost $700.

You might want to concider waiting for the MSI Megabook S270 to hit the US. It has Low-Power AMD Athlon 64 M, DVD-RW Burner, 12.1" widescreen, 60GB, WLAN... It's already available in Europe, also as a Bare Bone unit.

I'm dead set on the Fujitsu, but I'm definitely gunna wait for the new processor to see what comes about

The partition recovery thing in the Sony is a big turnoff
Ivan, the owner of PortableOne (Fujitsu vendor in California) stated that there was a delay and that the P7010D with the 1.2GHz processor is going to be a while longer. I thought you might want to know.

Well there are lots of other companies that have the Fujitsu in stock tho. Its just that the one with 80GB seems to be on backorder. The 60GB and 40GB version seems to be in stock or at least it was when 5 days ago at Pcconnection. I ordered mine direct from Fujitsu tho.

Patrick over at P-1 emailed me the other night and said it should be out by the end of the month

End of this month? I ordered mine last week and its supposed to ship this Fri. I got that date from both Fujitsu and Pcconnection. Or at least the 80GB spec is.

I just asked about the processor, not the HD and he said it should be out by the end of the month, but it isn't concrete (not sure if that means sooner or later)

I use to work at Office Depot. If anyone ever buys a display model please tell them that you want 10% off the price cause of the computer being a display. I always took off 10% for ever computer display I sold.
I'd want 25% off to take a display model that had been out for more than a day in a place like Office Depot

Hmm, which processor are we talking about then? Mine is specced as a Pentium-M 1.1 Ghz, 80GB HD, 1GB ram.
