Review:
I order my new sentia the 30th of dec. and i ended up getting it on the 27 of jan.
Order process: Luckly i had a 250 mail in rebate which helped. I ended up with this config:
Warranty: 1-Year AlienCare Toll-Free 24/7 Phone Support with Onsite Service
Operating System: Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2
Case: Alienware Exclusive Sentia Case
Processor: Intel® Pentium® M 735 1.7GHz 2MB L2 Cache 400MHz FSB
Motherboard: Intel® 855GME+ICH4M Chipset PC-2700 @ 333MHz
Wireless Network: Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200 Network Connection
Memory: 1GB DDR PC-2700 at 333MHz - 2x512MB SO-DIMMs
Hard Drive: 80GB 5400 RPM ATA100
Monitors: 12.1" Wide-XGA 1280x800 LCD Display
Video Card: Intel® Extreme Graphics 2 Technology
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Pro Compatible 5.1 Digital Audio
Smart Bay One: 6X Dual Layer DVD+/-RW / 24X CD-RW Combo w/Software
Ethernet NIC: Integrated 10/100Mb Ethernet NIC
Modem: 56K Modem with V.90 Technology
Mobile Transport : Alienware® Premium Backpack
Desktop Enhancements: Exclusive AlienGUIse Theme Manager
Free Alienware Mousepad: Free Alienware® Mousepad
Which i didn't want to spend 50 bucks extra for XP Pro so i got home, then upgraded it to Pro. Which worked perfectly fine. During the order process i wanted to change my hdd to a smaller but faster 7600 rpm one. Which delayed my order about 2 days. They also had a shortege on 512's for my memory which also delayed it. Other wise the order process went as planed. (since i'm typing this review on it now
)
The notebook:
Well i have to say this is a pretty sweet machine. I believe it is the perfect size/power ratio. The wieght is just right i so is the size. With the 1gb of ram i can alt-tab from counter strike to firefox in a snap. I highly reconmend getting the 1gb of memory over a faster chip.
Games tested:
Counter Strike -- >60fps at full res(1280 x 800) Looks very very nice!
UT 2004 -- Low settings it runs "ok" which you can get by on the absolute lowest settings.
World of Warcraft -- Runs "ok" full res but good on low res. Barible on the full resolution though. Thats what i run it at.
Counter Strike Source -- Lowest settings = Almost un barlible can't play this game on the sentia i don't think.
The hardware:
The screen is beatiful besides the two dead pixels on the very low rows. I can't notice them with the task bar there but when whatching a movie i can. Key board seems nice, took a day to get used to though. Love the touchpad very very customizable.
Summary:
Pros: Wonderful screen, plays cstrike very nicely, small, fast.
Cons: Battery not what i expected, wifi is "ok", and dead pixels are lame.
But i do say i love the design and feel and everything! Wonderful notebook.
