Hi,
I tried find this on the forum but didn't have any luck.

For some unknown reason my 8890 seems to stall after the loading screen of windows xp for about 1m 1.5mins i've reformatted and it didn't do it at first but after I installed all the drivers it's doing it again.

So after the loading screen the screen goes black.

I'm running windows xp pro sp1.

Thanks for your help.

try sp2, when you re-formatted, di you delete and re-create the partitions? if not, that may be the problem, also make sure you don't format quick, you should do the full format

don't try sp2 - it is a hack imho.
first off go into safe mode for windows see if that does anything different.
you could have bad blocks on the disk although the reformat may have fixed them.
Check you have the right versions of the drivers.
Safe mode will allow you to step thru each driver to check them out during boot.
Good luck.

I should have said, it's a brand new hitachi E7200rpm drive, so that's not the problem.

Thanks for the safe mode idea, I found out what is causing the problem, it's something called AGP440 must be something with the graphics card.

Any ideas? I tried uninstalling the ATI drivers but that didn't fix it.

Ok I disabled AGP440 and now it's freezes when loading Mup.sys.

Ah HA! found it, it was the SD mp3 player that comes with the 8890, I had it in its slot and that for some reason was causing the problem.

Thanks for your help guys.
