Print exact DVD retail covers without having to add 3 inches of paper go for a Canon 370 MultiPass, this printer will do a full front, spine, and back on one 8.5 X 11 without any additonal paper it uses 4 ink (1 black , 1 color(3) ) and has a 48 bit scanner on top, price about $140. Only the 390 which has a fax in it tops the 370 M/P if you don't need a fax the 370 is a top of the line printer. Prints borderless photo on glossy paper on 3 sizes, a top of the line printer of Canon ink jet series. This about the 15th MultiPass, first one was the MP 20. Printer features just about all you would want for a lot less money than a laser.

Retail cover at the store have 300 Dots Per inch, you can go much higher but to us it would look too good and we would know it's a fake, we stick to the same as the studios 300DPI. I hope this helps

If you are interested in printing wirelessly, I highly recommend the HP6840. It shares the same Broadcom chipset found in Dell's Truemobile wireless and even supports WPA. Can't comment on printing to CD/DVD though.

The Epson printers for YEARS suffered serious head clog issues. With epson printers, replacing the printhead is extremely expensive. With HP and Canon printers, the printheads are not that expensive AND they do not clog like the Epson printers did. Now I have not shopped printers in 2 years but for the prior 5 years the Epson had a horrible clog issue. Go to any of the printer newsgroups on digital photos no one was buying Epsons who really did research.

The canon printers typically printed the highest quality for the cheapest cost per page. I think their newest line is called Pixma or something like that. The HPs typically print more quickly at a slight reduction in quality but have a higher cost per page. Lexmark/Dells and all Multi-function printers from any company are cheap crap.

Things could have changed in the past few years. Tread carefully. The hype on the web sites from the manufacturers and the Office Max employees is *not* to be believed. Hop on the newsgroups that talk about digital photos and so forth.

Epson are among the worst printers ever. (Lexmark is the king of suckiness)

If you can live without the CD printing, Canon IPX4000 is the best printer for the price from Amazon.

Get this.

In Japan (I was there for 3 weeks a month ago), Canon had the iPX4000-like model WITH CD printing.

It was almost 30000 Yen, though (300 USD).

What are good MULTIFUNCTION PRITNERS?
I would recommend Epson or Canon. The cost of supplies on the Dell and HP's are just too high. It would appear that the latest Epson printers have fixed the clogging issue based on what little research I have done. One of the best resources I have found for Printer research is the DPReview.com printer forums This is a Digital photography web site but these guys know their printers.

MultiFunction is that it prints and scans on 370 instead of 390 as it also has onboard Fax, I don't Fax so I bought the mulitalented 370 M.F. There are printers that just print so you have to buy 2 devices to print and scan or a 3rd device to Fax.

Are you saying multifunc. printers are bad?
yes, multifuntion printers are bad. Expect to replace it soon after the warranty runs out. Unless you are VERY lucky, spend too much for a fancy one....and you wont get the print quality that you get out of a dedicated true photo inkjet printer.

Well, I have been considering Brother's MFC9700. HP, I think is too over priced like Sony. Cannon, I am not sure of.

Brother??? Are you doing any internet reading? You're REALLY going down the wrong path, 100%

Yes indeed, already done some too, couldnt wait to see what the results were like and they turn out terrific...........and it has 2 plain paper sheet feeding options - either from the top or from the tray underneath.

Canon, Epson, HP, see my 4th message as I discount Epson somewhat. There is a later response that Epson finally after 5 years resolved its printhead clog issue but I would confirm indepenently through newsgroups and so forth.

I would have to disagree. The Canon MP750 has the same print engine as the PIXMA iP4000 with an Canoscan 500F scanner built in. It also includes a document feeder and auto duplexing. This Multi function device is every bit as good as the iP4000 and will last just as long. There are also Multi function printers available from HP and Epson that are just as good. Don't rule out Multi function devices because of the poor quality $50-$100 Lexmark and Dell throw aways.

If you need a good multifunction unit - Photo Printer/Scanner/Copier/FAX there are some really good options available today.
