Buffy there are no paint issues the 7700 uses a dyed plastic not a paint. maybe you are thinking of another lappy.. As far as heat only the 3.6 ghz cpus have had any issues and these have been minor. I use a 3.6 in my 7700 and have had no overheating to date . however i did design a mod to allow for better cooling.

Thanks Justin your a star, especially with the info of paint, how is it to use on the lap?? boyfriend is always gaming on bed with it..he wont put it dead on bed normally on his lap.

As for 3.6ghz his spec will similar to yours apart from the processor i think his is about 3.4ghz.

well... i got the 3.0ghz and its at 52c as i speak... spend more money on something else for it dont worry about the xtra 400mhz since you can upgrade the processor save the money then later when new processors come out you can pop it in and i have a bit of a problem with the paint right along the bottom near the latchs but im 100% positive its from it being pressured in my booksack dont know how it happened

well its a bit heavy and it uses a few fans under neath that need to be unblocked his legs could block them. but maybe lay it on somthing flat and stiff and that would be fine. also it does get a bit warm. its really not a LAP top as it is a mobile desktop.

I once recieved a portable DVD player with a screen as a gift. I kept the box and use it to hold my laptops when I am using them. This has a few bonuses. There is no heat issues for it being on your lap. There is no problem with fans sucking up carpet or sheets and over heating the laptop. It allows for a steady flow of heat and helps cooling. The box is barely big enough to hold the G15 I had. It is about 5 inches tall so it makes a nice table for your lap. It is very wide so it does not sway back and forth with motion since the footprint is large. Only thing that would make this better, would be if I made leg contours and maybe added a cooling system into it. Infact I might make those and start selling them.
