Sager 4750 reporting only 801Mhz - Page 2

Mine did this before the motherboard died. These things are POS. Unfortunately, I have two of these. The one works, but the one with the dead motherboard died 16 months after buying it. Sager won't help and they only thing they will do is replace it for nearly the cost of a new computer. I'm a wholesaler for them and I've lost tons of money on Sager. Anyway, rant over...I got my dig in...but mine did the exact same thing before the motherboard went out.

Then you might be having touble with CPU cooling. I had a similar problem after I tore apart my laptop to re-solder the power port on the mobo. I took the lame thermal pad off the CPU cooler and put some Arctic Silver on. What I didn't realize is that the heatsink is not even close to being flat, and I got some HORRIBLE temps and performance.

What I did was get some 600 grit wet/dry sand paper and ran it across the heatsink for about an hour untill it was all copper where the CPU sits. It's still not perfectly flat since you cannot remove the block from the heatpipe to lap it properly on a piece of glass, but it works much better.

Have you checked your temps? Set your power scheme to Always On, and let it run for a while, you'll see the temps jump a bit, but how high do they get?
