Well, I have a Sony A170. Concise Review:

Positive:
Screen is great.
It's pretty cool looking.
It runs very cool.
Connectors on the side are convenient.

Neutral:
Battery life is average.

Stinky:
Keyboard is stinky.
Harddrive is not upgradeable without a significant amount of trouble.
No svideo out without a docking station.
Mouse pad is not all that great.
I've had lots of trouble with the video when gaming, like it gets too hot or something. Probably needs more cooling.

That's enough. I would actually recommend it, though, depending on your needs, though I will probably never buy another one because of the various negatives I sighted.

Well the only Sony (GRV680) I had was the best notebook I ever had espically the bright crystal clear and color rich 16" screen. Alas after 14 months and a nearly a month of non stop FarCry playing last year I fried the MR9000. Oh well. Sold it to another online person and I truly hope they can get some more life out of it.

Whether you like or dislike sony or thier notebooks, honestly, how long would it have been before the sony posts started addin' up to the point that it's just utterly ridiculous to not have a subforum...

It's a great move and will help forum members and newbies like myself a little better. Organized and stuff. mmm...organized..mmmm

I was lucky because there was a single thread that had over one hundred pages on the S Series, which is what i have. It great just being able to look at that every few days to see what people were saying. It was like a personal forum just for the s series.

My last VAIO was a GR-290, was great for my last 3 years, now upgraded last month to a SONY A290. I am very satisfied with it and the best is the widescreen 17" with XBRITE...really the best image i have seen is with this VAIO.
