I returned my 9200 the first week of january. Should i be seeing a refund yet on my credit card yet?

Log into dell.com see if the invoice for the return is shown. After that it takes two weeks. But you can speed it up if you call customer care.

You should very soon, it can take up to one month so within the week you should see the refund. If not contact Dell's returns department and discuss with them.

hey chickenbreast, just wondering if there's a cost to return it (shipping or fee) if returned within first 21 days. did you have to twist someone's arm to get them to take it back? (not sure this was asked elsehwere or in a faq)

Yes, if returned within the first 21 days period you do have to pay for shipping and that.... but there is no restocking fee.

if you get lucky and talk to the right rep you don't have to pay the shipping they will pay for it. I've returned several things to Dell and as far as receiving your money it's been all over the boards to when i've gotten my money. I returned the 2005fp monitor and it took just over a month to receive my money back, somehow on several of my returns, someone forgets to update the account with a new tracking number or messes up the account somehow. If you ask them to expedite the credit they tell you they will return your money within 3-5 days, which i've found out to be a total lie, but it does speed up the return process a little bit. This is one area that Dell needs to vastly improve on.

yeah, i've worked in tech support and know people that worked with order status and basic support issues... there's only so much they can really do, and you really have to get to somebody on a personal level if you want to convince them to go out of their way to help you with something that will take time.

these folks know every kind of person taht calls in and can, based on your attitude, decide to give 100% or 110%.. that 10% is the difference between you getting what you want, or you getting the script treatment.

of course you can b*tch and be rude, but that just gets you the same in return some day down the line.

thanks for your suggestions to call them! i'm glad i did, because somehow, the refund was just lost in space somewhere.

they processed it immediately, and i should see it in 5-7 business days!

by the way, i did pay about $15 in UPS return shipping fees. They are reimbursing my entire purchase price though, including the $50 shipping charge i had to pay initially.

Damn, getting money back on a return sounds like a long time. I purchased my laptop on a debit card so it's not like I can just order another one right now and wait for it to be credited..... crap.

It's been over a month I still haven't recieved my refund. I talked with a Dell Financial rep last week and they said they'd prioritize and the return should show within 2-3 days... still no return after a week from that message. Come Monday, if there's nothing on my credit card, I'll have to give them a call. I'd like to buy a 9300, but until that refund shows up, no going.

Dell tends to systematically "forget" about crediting for returns. You need to ride them constantly.

why are you talking to dell financial when you didn't finance it through dell? maybe that is the problem

It only took 2 weeks (from the date they recieved my system) for me to get my money back, quite fast really !

Damn, I guess I won't be able to have a laptop for spring break (March 26th). I'll be stuck on parent's dialup instead of wardriving for some bandwidth.

Buy your dell on their payment plan. You can pay it out any time you want. If you pay it within the first 30 days of getting the unit, you pay no interest at all. That way you don't have to deal with all this hassel.

I did finance it through Dell. By credit card, I mean the dell card they sent me, which isn't really a credit card I guess. But anywho, just this morning I got an email back saying they credited my account. It hasn't shown up on my account balance yet, but I figure it takes a little bit to process.

After returning my laptop to get a different model, I received the Case Logic sleeve. Nothing more sad... Maybe I should put my 5-subject paper notebook in there and take it to class. Gotta keep my notes safe.
