I might just get both an 8890 and 5680 in HYBRID-ORANGE (like my 8887)...

i'm too worried about paint chipping to paint my laptop, it does look sweet, but i'm not sure if its worth the risk

An orangey-brown or a nice aqua-blue.

Gator colors, lol
orange and blue

I want mine in the yellow that Porsche 911s come in: Speed Yellow. I saw a 911 GT2 in that color about a month ago, and I still can't get over it. The CPU will have to be downgraded to make up for the price increase of painting it. Doesn't matter, because in the end there will be a Prescott 3.6 GHz chip in there.

edit: BTW, I'm holding out for the color option AND internal 802.11g wireless before ordering.

How about the Gunmetal colour? Not only the colour, but make it look like a real Gunmetal surface(deep shiny and smooth). That would be awesome.

clear
Clear would be really cool!!! But, clear is obviously not a paint color...lol... That would be really neat though.

Not meaning to ThreadJack this, but people "Holding out for 802.11g" may be holding out for a LONG time. At best, you'll see it in a a/b/g combo card, but my belief is that 'g' will not come about as much as many of us originally hoped before it was finalized/ratified in June '03.

I'd hold out for an a+b card, now - and I have a b/g wifi home network... just my guess, of course.

Pint Job Price

About two days ago I emailed Adam with some questions, including the cost of the painted laptops. This is what he had to say:

"The paint jobs will run about $250 it looks like and will be available within 2 weeks of the notebooks beginning to ship. This is the deal we worked out with Sager as to when they will get us the supplies for painting. They said 2 weeks from them starting to ship they would have them for us.
>
> Thanks,
> Adam Alter
> PC Torque Ltd."

Now this is just something mentioned in an email and not an official statement so expect some changes

what

okay, i heard about painting, but what colors? does anybody know what colors? They could be some crappy colors. and im sorry, but i dont want my laptop to look like an alienware wannabe green...it seems that alot of people want that color. But for the naysayers, why want to look like something you so adamantly oppose?
anyway, who knows what colors they willl offer?
I'm sure there will be MANY different basic colors much like hypersonic and voodoo offer. Adam also mentioned the option that you could get a custom color. For example, say you loved the color of your car you could get your laptop painted to match.
