T150 memory question

I ordered a kingston micro dim and installed it in my t150pl. It was a 512 mb module reccommeded. Install was fine, I checked the memory count by right clicking my computer in Xp pro and it said the total ram was 0.9 gb. I have never seen memory counted this way in XP. The notebook is stable, used it all day with the ram upgrade no problems. Is there some weird way sony uses memory? I also noticed in a separate issue that using mobile meter the notebook gets pretty warm 58C under full load. I have only had this little guy for about a week so I was wondering if this is normal for this machine as well.

1024 MB - 64 MB shared VRAM = 960 MB = 0.9 GB
