100GB 7200RPM Hardrives...FINALLY!!! - Page 3

What sort of power requirement does a 7200 RPM drive compared to the basic 4200RPM drives? Asking because I currently have just a 30GB 4200 and was considering upgrading to at least something double in size, but don't want to sacrifice hardly any battery time.

The power difference is minimal. I noticed no difference whatsoever when switching from 4200 to 5400, or when switching from 5400 to 7200. The performance difference is huge.

Yes, from what I have read, the additional power draw should be minimal. The temp increase should be minimal, as well. Whatever the case may or may not be, I think that the added speed and disc space capacity will over shadow any residual affects.

The Geek Squad, at Best Buy, said that the HD's will be available in about 2 months. Actually, they already appear in their computers . . . But don't have any to sell . . .

When asked about pricing . . . They said $199.99 . . . Same as the current 100 gb 5400 rpm units.

Hmmm . . . Since they have the units in their computers, I should go back and ask for a rain check.

YOUR mind tach's reading has reached over normal parameters and the data clusters in your brain has overloaded the matter-antimatter dilithium chamber module thus resulting into excessive random memory management. I think YOU need to defragment yourself.
