I need suggestions on how to damage a computer with Windows 98.

I'm in a computers repair class and my teacher told me to cause damage to the computer to see what it does. I have a Windows 98 disk in case I have to reinstall it, so as long as I can cause damage without permanently damaging something, it's all good.

try opening up Regedit and deleting registry keys at random.

I was deleting everything in all of the registry working my way up from the bottom. When I got to CLASSES_ROOT, my mouse was pretty much not working anymore clicking-wise.

I screwed it up big time.

I want to see if it's fixable without having to reformat.

F8 while booting, Command Promt, scanreg, and then used a backup and everything was fine.

Yep scanreg is pretty handy...

now try doing that with an XP system and that's a completely different story for fixing it... (anyone that has had to use recovery console to fix "system32/config/system" error knows this )

well.... obviously if you have a backup it can be fixed easily

delete io.sys and msdos.sys

and boot.ini
Windows 98 is not NT based, thus no boot.ini.

Hmmm, been too long I guess. Haven't even seen 98 run for like 5+ years

Cruise through pron and haxor sites without wearing a condom.

Delete all fonts that are on the system.

Bring up a command prompt and enter fdisk /mbr

Change a bunch of 1's to 0's . Messing with the reg is fun!

reminds me of that squirrel thingy and the "Snell" tech support flash video.

and if the machine only has one partition fdisk /mbr won't do anything to it... (good command for getting rid of boot sector viruses tho )

Take it upstairs...
Throw it out of a window...
Tell her that you tried to make a Windows Breakthrough

Throwing the computer out the window is a documented WinME fix, not sure if the same applies for 98.

Back to the first post -
Are there classes held these days that cover win98 repair? Seriously, is there???? Does it cover DOS?

BTW - no longer supports 98

AHAHA

Never even thought of this one. Imagine that back in the WIN95 days when HD space was expensive, deleting "extra" fonts was part of my clean up and make space routine.
