I would appreciate suggestions for troubleshooting the issue..
laptop: compaq presario 1700T (Piii 1 Ghz, 512MB RAM, ATI 8mb graphics M6 i guess)
problem: whenever i try to open any .psd file in photoshop the screen simply goes blank. This also happens when i scroll through pages in internet explorer too fast ...and some other progs too.

Compaq customer support has denied that such a problem exists in this model, and since the system is out of warranty it doesnt help matters much.
I would appreciate if someone could suggest any solution. It is very irritating to have the screen go blank every now and then, requiring a hard reboot.
I can live without photoshop on the laptop, but the frequency of this problem is only increasing. It would be a pity that i would need to dump this laptop, cos its pretty fast for the general office stuff i need to do.
