Where can I find a black notebook that isn't IBM?

I find it truly amazing that the entire PC industry has shifted to silver notebooks with the exception of IBM and a few select models here and there.

More irritating is when the inside of a notebook is entirely black, close the lid and there's a silver shell, e.g. HP dv1040.

I'm looking for a black thin and light notebook, 14" screen, with features like firewire, decent video card, etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Why don't u buy whatever notebook that fills the needs you have and just get it painted black?

I have given some serious thought to this. My biggest concern is voiding the warranty, paint peeling, etc. Right now, it looks to be the only option.

You could buy a notebook from places that paint them. VoodooPC, Hypersonic-PC, etc.

The Asus W3N when it comes out.

Seems to fit your needs perfectly.

My 8790 was black, or navy blue at the most.

Yeah, I have the Asus W3 at the top of my list. Hopefully the price will be reasonable.

hell, i have the opposite problem. i would have liked a laptop that was NOT the same old black or gray. something with more color, that way it stands out in the crowd, but i settled on a black laptop (with a gray top) anyhow.

what is irritating me now is that just about everything laptop case sold at stores are all black. and they all look the same. this is annoying. there are no choices whatsoever. my GF wants a laptop tote bag as well, but she wants something feminine looking and i told her that she's just gonna have to either do without or find a specialty store on the internet if she doesn't want a black bag for her laptop.

There are thousands of laptop bags in the no standard black.

Tumi makes some great ones (very pricey though)

I have an M6NE and it's too large and heavy for my needs. I would appreciate it much more if it came in a smaller package.

If you want to get rid of it I'll be willing to take it off your hands for a few hundred bucks

HP nc6000 is completely black, and has really good build quality, only slightly below that of IBM and on par with Toshiba and other decent makers. Also, if you're into games, it has r9600.

also, you can get it with 14 inch sxga+ screen and it wheighs ~5 lbs without optical driver and space saver installed.
