I have an 8100. I bought an NEC DVD burner and an external USB2/FW enclosure. I installed Nero 6.5 (or whatever is the latest version) DVD suite and successfully burned DVDs. The problem is that XP does not recognize the DVD burner after booting it up. I tried accessing the drive via Nero, Explorer, Control Panel, etc with no success. I am using the FW port on laptop. When I turnoff the DVD burner, XP makes a sound indicating something has been removed but it never recognizes the drive unless I perform a clean install of Nero or Roxio. Shouldn't the laptop and dvd burner support plug and play? Is this a known issue with the FW jack on 8100? I plan to buy another enclosure and FW cord today,
