Can the 7422 deliver 5.1?

I live outside the US and a friend of mine is bringing me a 7422 along with her. I dont know, though, if it can handle more than a pair of speakers.

I happen to have a Creative 5.1 around my room driven by my current desktop (soon to be replaced), which has an AC97 integrated card that ports the rear, center and SW channels to the LINE IN and MIC connectors. Does anybody know if the 7422's AC97 can do the same?

My friend will be the only chance to get an USB or PCMCIA Audigy 2, but I want to know if it's absolutely necessary to spend the extra hundred bucks.

Hi, the sound chip onboard is only 2 channel and made by realtek and is an ALC250. Hope this helps!

get a Audiogy PCMCIA for the notebook and it can do 5.1, 6.1, 7.1

I am thinking of this with the Zalman 5.1 headphones. 5.1 gaming on the go, hehe.

and it can also do static noise. lay low until it gets fixed
