STUCK " IN PRODUCTION"

HEY,
I ordered my 9200 on the 27th they are saying it will be shipped on Feb 7th but it is just sitting "in production" as they call it.I wonder why a week to make a laptop?I figured this place would bang out pc's like a sweat shop.Maybe new/better parts coming in or maybe last of the 9200 orders bulked before they start the 9300.What gives?Just tell me in the order status exactly what the hell is going on with my laptop, who is touching it right now or why isn't somebody installing something. If it is in the "building stage" then it should make process during the day. Thanks for listening,I have finished venting and I am going to bed.

Good night

do you want them to just rush when they build your laptop resulting in the final outcome being a piece of sh*t?

One link on here of an article said it only took like 4 minutes to build a laptop anyway. They don't take their time in the first place when they build it.

Relax. Have some dip.

The best thing you can do is not look at the build status information. All that matters is the expected ship date. As customers we seriously over-interpret what each stage of Dell's production status represents. For example, when something goes in the production state I always assumed that meant it's on an assembly line in Texas and all of the parts are available. In reality it could mean anything. Perhaps a particular sub-system has gone into assembly in Malaysia, or part of the system is being assembled while other parts are still on back order -- who knows!

For that matter even the shipping carrier's systems are the same way. When your laptop finally leaves Dell I'm sure you'll start checking UPS's online status. But did you know most of their information comes from 'logical' scans and not physical scans? They represent where the package is *assumed* to be, not where it actually is. Hell, even the bulk of their own phone agents don't know that! You have to tell them to click into the arrival scan information in their system to see if it's a logical or physical....

Anyway, the moral of the story is don't get yourself worked up over production status info. All that matters is the ship date. From my experience Dell with either ship the system on schedule or a day or two early.

Good luck.

I understand what you guys are saying but dell is saying it is past the "kitting stage' which means they have grouped all necessary parts for the build.I could see if they were waiting for something.I just thought that if it was in the build stage it was actually being built. You know what happens when you assume.I also realize that I am not the only one getting a 9200 built but how about a some OT for these people if your orders are backed up.I built this laptop fifty times before I ordered it just like everbody does and the time frame was never 10 days. What this boils down to really is me being impatient more than anything but I think there could be more to this as far as may be the last of the 9200 series being built.Any one else?

Things dragged across the ocean floor do take a bit longer to arrive, especially a slow boat from China. Malaysia, there could be a pig farmers and laptop building strike by the Malaysians going on. Malaysia is best known for their careful cultivation of pigs all other things come dead last. Like third world Notebook production by skilled input of pigs and Notebooks nurturing. That said there will be a lag in how long the skilfully made product will be in Dells notorious ball snapping shipping department. The card game could be over anytime soon, you might see some manure still hanging on or at least the smell and by that you can tell where it came from the only thing you won't know is which pig did it.

Do pigs running around baskets provide power the speedy ships carrying the delicate instruments subject to Tsunamis as seen in Mad Max 3 AKA the little man and the dummy with the gold capped tooth drinking love potion number 9. Fly us with pig power manure methanol that once you got my the smell you have it licked or snorted.

Yeah it says "In Production".
not only do i work weekends, i work nights, like right now!

so what did you order that would cause your system build to be delayed?

kramer character is hillarious.
I think he means what it says when you click on the "In Production" words and go to the link.

my 9200 is on its way.. but it was a dell outlet steal, so it went right into shipping same day i ordered, on 1/28. right now its in this metro-area but not in the city they normally do "out for delivery" from. so i dont know if they'll be getting it to me tomorrow or the day after, which is when its scheduled to be delivered.

if it isnt in my "home" city by tomorrow morning, i doubt they'll be delivering it. typically the delivery scan is around 8 or 9 am, and doesnt look like its going inter-city tonight.
