My friend does this with a samsung phone and sprint. But its not bluetooth its just cellphone to usb connector. Costs him 15 dollars extra for the unlimited dataplan Sprint Vision. Just dials #777 and it connects downloads at 12kb/s

Thanks again guys.

I'll take a look at the Nokia. I've had two sony Ericssons the t68 and t610. Both have blue tooth and have been pretty good phones. If i can use a USB link to use a cell phone as a modem then i guess blue tooth isn't that much of an issue then.

Pretty much any decent Nokia you buy will have bluetooth also, so you will likely still get one with BT. Definately get one that has EDGE and not just GPRS. EDGE is considerably faster than GPRS if you are in a market that has been upgraded.

I work for Cingular in their East coast NOC. I have a Nokia 6230b with BT and EDGE. I also have the MediaWorks package @ 19.99/month which allows for unlimited WAP internet. With this I can connect to my I8600 and surf the net at speeds of about 125-140kbps depending on the area of coverage. If you want more info, or want to know about anything else mobile phone related, check out www.howardforums.com. They are one of the best resources on the net for mobile technology.

I wish. Our telcos are so stingey we only get 9600 baud
None of them implement Edge so we are stuck with crappy service.

Mind you they are being beaten at their own game.
Two companies here in Sydney are implementing wireless broadband
www.unwired.com.au are using Navini's setup.
Now we just got www.iburst.com.au who are also offering 1Mb/s speeds with a PCMCIA card. Gotta love that .

So stupid telcos can get knotted as far as I am concerned - I put my money where the speed is (like a Sager 8890 ).

Sometimes though you can't be at your normal broadband socket or the broadband is deadband, you have to have a backup. Thats why I like the iburst idea over crappy old 9600 baud GSM phone carrier.

I use my verizon wireless VX6000 every night I use it when mins are free so I am not charged anything. It's sweet free fast internet. But cell phones work in bursts so online games like CS run smooth then lag then smooth....its awesome to just do normal things though
