Hate to do this but...........

I promised myself i wouldn't come here and rant about my brand new 7700 needing repair, but after todays phone call from support i need to vent.

I recived my 7700 on 12/30/04 and was so happy.after fooling aroung with it for a few hours,i noticed it was over heating.First call to tech support was the normal check for dirty fans(machine was 4 hours old). After a little more experminting,i notcied that the fn and windows keys also didnt work.Second call to support i was instructed to remove the keybord, reseat the cable and try it again.Nothing.They told me to call back on Monday, when i did,we finaly decided it needed to be sent back in.Ok,no problem,i understand stuff happenes and there a new modle. After about 3 weeks,i recived a call on 1/26 saying that they had replaced the defective cooling fan and they were waiting on a replacement Motherboard......Cool,at least there's problem and they were realy nice about things.

Well today i get a second call from support telling me after some "further" research they found what appered to be superglue on the motherboard and the started questioning me as to wether i did this.I was shocked!I didn't do any such thing! Now i'm getting mad because this guy on the phone is telling me there's no way that i didn't do this and to dig the knife alittle further,he told me thre voiding my warenty! At this point i went off the wall and told him to keep his Fu**ng machine and refund my money. He then tells me he cant do that and to call Customer support.

So after cooling down alitle,i called Support and they are looking into things and asure me everything will be worked out.We will see.All i can say is my stock in Alienware is at 0 now.I mean come on.First i have a bad motherboard, now there's glue on it causing the problems?Mabey if they checked there machines before they left the build shop this kind of stuff wouldn't happen. All i can say is if tech support tells you to do something,VIDEO TAPE it,and send the tape to them with the machine. Now i may be out 2400.00 at 24% interest rate,Man i need a drink

Sorry for my rant, but like i said i have to vent.

Wow, that sucks man. Hopefully they (customer support) will get to the bottom of things for you and get you all squared away. Sorry to heard about this. I would've reacted the same way, so don't feel bad.

Next time use Duct Tape... not super glue :P

Whoa, that sucks! I spoke to a couple of A.W. representatives when i was considering ordering this model from them. All truth be told, i was a little weary of the conflicting information that each of them gave me so I chose to wait for a sager. After all I am not gonna hand over 4 grand to someone that will charge me 15% restocking if im not impressed. I am still waiting , as I want the new 6800go. Yet, I am happy I chose to wait. This is really bad ethics for them to imply that you dropped crazyglue on the mobo. Was the laptop working fine , aside from the fans? Please post the followups to your issue.

Dude... AW tech support sucks. PERIOD. I have no faith whatsoever in AW anymore. Will i ever buy AW again? HELL NO. Its things like this that make me pissed off... not to mention that their tech support can't speak a sh*t worth of English. I think Dell's India tech support was WAY better. AW owners don't seem to get it yet... but they will. AW doesn't give a rat's @$$ if your happy with your purchase or not. They got your money, and the rest is not important. Have you noticed how their advertising is geared towards new buyers? In fact, I am going to start a poll on how many current AW owners would buy AW again...

I'm a four time customer, and I'll buy from them again.

Sorry your experience was so poor, but it's okay now... take a deep breath...

Yea,everthing else worked fine.Just got a little hot(look in the sager fourm for this problem) and the FN and "window" key didn't work, all others did.The LCD was perfect no dead pixles and when it wasn't getting hot and throttleing back,it was fast as hell!.I just cant believe they would try to say i did this. How do i know the guy who assembled it didn't do it?Why wasn't the machine checked before leaving?Guess i should have waited till after the holiday rush,i dont know.

I realy liked this machine for the 4 days i had it,and was even ok with sending it back for repairs, but come on voiding my warenty for something they say "mush have been done by me" after telling me first that the whole motherboard was bad?Just bad business in my eyes.

Back to drinking.........

novacrs,

This call doesn't reflect my experience with Alienware, including a depot call on one of my desktops that had a motherboard failure. I've always been treated with respect by Alienware employees, though sometimes the amount of time it takes to get things done at AW is a concern.

Good luck.

So let's see what Steve can get done before we go "Turmoil" up in heeya.
Good luck

Keep us posted, as I am quite interested in how this episode will conclude.
Turmoil has a nice machine listed in his sig. I would love to own that system. Its not true that AW doesn't care about the owners. I have used tech support and CS on a number of ocassions and have never had any problems. It seems like support has been good in this case except for jumping to conclusions because of the superglue. I think I might jump to a conclusion too though. Theres gotta be some explanation but its better now to get past all that and get this machine back to its owner. novacrs, really. Contact Alienware-Steve and send him your AW account info to check on this for you. The NBF message system is safe.

PM has been sent. Thanks to all who have responded.Hopefully this will be sorted out and i can get my machine back and start smileing again.

Steve will hopefully get it figured out, he straighted out some things for me before. I hate hearing about them telling you that. I've been on the phone quite a bit with support, sales, etc. and all but 1 have been overly nice to me.

-Good luck

Keep in mind how many of these are sold. It was an honest question about self mods. Take a look at all the mods post and overclocking these babys already. They just ahve to cover all bases to help you properly. Be patient.

One of a myriad of reasons AW is not gonna see my money. For better specs and 3100.00 shipped, Discountlaptops is gonna make me the owner of a new Sager 9860.

Normally I would never post to a topic like this due to the fact that I feel really bad for the individual's like "novacrs" have "out of the box issues." However when you "oneeye" post something like that I have ask myself why you would say something like this?

To be blunt, I have been in the Sager forums many times, and I have never seen a rep from "Discountlaptops" post there. I may have missed it, but I don't recall seeing one. You have to give AW some respect when they have employees like Juan and Steve on the clock posting to a competitors web forum in an effort to solve problems. That's going the extra mile, I'm not disagreeing with your purchase, it's probably perfect for you, and I honestly hope you love every second of it.

Wow! What stories I could tell you about Alienware. But after 2, going on 3 months of some really intense conversations (never yelling or saying those bad words) they and I have come to a very good agreement.

I am not going to say, not to buy an AW, but would recommend waiting until the kinks are worked out of the 7700. Like you, my experience for a day and not even a half was awesome. Yes, we went back and forth over whats warranty or their mistake and not mine. And it came down to just fix it and send it back and I am not going to say what else transpired between them and I, but just know that the better you treat them, the better they will treat you. Yes it took me a long time, but my machine is so-called repaired and on its way home as of today.

I recommend too all of you, get emails confirming all conversations and if worse comes to worse you can PM me and I can give you the REAL SUPERVISORS names, extensions and email addresses. But just keep your cool and be firm, and most important to all you mod'ers. I wouldn't mode the 7700 because the BIOS on the motherboard and the Video Card can tell them if it has been overclocked, even if its just a reghack. It's like the Redline/TACH in the race car of Blue Thunder when Tom Cruise redlined the motor.

AW has great products, and like any company when they come out with something new it can take longer than expected to ensure the same quality customers are use too.

I will update this post when I receive the new machine again and use it for a week or two. My fingers are crossed that I never have to call them ever again.

Good luck to any of you that have had problems...But don't base this or any bad experience and say never buy AW!
