3DMark 05 results with ATI X800= 4486!! - Page 2

Thanks for the repsonse vrod. I've also been reading the forums at techpowerup and this does seem to be an issue with some of the x800 cards. It'll just climb until it locks. One thing you can do to avoid these (or at least to cut down on them) is to increase the artifact scanning time in the settings.

lol at the 512...I'd have definitely had the fire extinguisher at the ready.

Thread Starter

where'd you get the new drivers?

Vrod,

where did you get the newest drivers? You can't get them from ATI, so it would have to be sager. Is that correct?

John
yeah they are at sager. now im not positive, and i should have double checked before i updated them, but i could swear, that my 3dmark01 scores were better with the older drivers.

so far vrod, ur oc'ing is a lot better than what I am able to get. the latest that i've gotten up to and remained stable is 453core/430mem. gonna try again tomorrow.

just ran it at 490/1002. 4610 on 3DMark2005. ran it four times back to back. no lock ups.

Im running the 4.12a Omega Cats. My scores have been update in my sig. BTW, when I went to check on the memory manufacturer for the X800 I noticed that the GPU hardly had any AS5 if at all. I have some handy, I put some on and I now can get my core to 492. Waiting for the AS5 to fully settle in before I run another set of 3dMarks. You guys might wanna check your cores and make sure they have any AS5 on them.

Alright I thought I knew what I was doing....its become blatantly apparent that I don't.

Spent the last three hours trying to get the omega drivers installed. First I just went in and uninstalled the original driver (6.14.10.6497). Restarted. Then installed the omega drivers. Restarted. Went into display properties>settings>advanced and tried to click on the omega tab. Got this error:

"C:\windows\system32\shell32.dll,control_rundll
"c:\windows\sustem32\desk.cpl", disply"

And the display properties crashed. So I removed everything omega and retried. A couple times. Same error. So once again I removed everything omega and ran driver and cab cleaner to get rid of all things ati. Installed the omegas again. Got the same error as before. removed the omegas, went back to the original drivers and then tried to install the cat 5.1 drivers to see if I could at least get those to work. When running the installer I got this error:

"Setup was unable to find components that can be installed on your current hardware or software configuration. Please make sure you have the rquired hardware or software."

I removed everything and now I'm back to the original drivers that came with the machine. I feel like I've followed all instructions carefully, but obviously have nothing to show for it. I thought that I could jump in and figure all this stuff out no problem. I come from an apple background and this is my first windows machine so some issues I expected. I'm a tenacious bastard when it comes to this sort of thing, so I'm sure, at some point, I'll get all this figured out. Anything to point me in the right direction would be appreciated though.

btw it looks like new omega drivers based on cat 5.1 are due out today. they're not uploaded yet but omega posted that they are on the way.

i have a small fantasy that i will be able to install these without issue.

Did you empty out the recycle bin & unplug the network before/after running the cleaner? It sounds like you still have some conflicts from the old drivers.
Yeah I had done both.
Well, after 20 hours or so after I did my AS5 reapp. and got my clocks to 490/1002, I decided to run 3dmark03 and 05. I waited about a day cause I wanted the AS5 to "settle" in. Below are my scores. At first I couldn't believe it. I thought that I may had made a mistake. But I ran them both another 5 times and played HL2 and CS:Source for about 3 hours and indeed no lock ups or artifacts. Behold! My kick @$$ Mobility X800 XT PE SE OC BIOTCH!

My current OC on 4.12 Omega Drivers.

My '03 Scores. Just like I predicted.

Now this was a surprise! I expected 4700 but never this! I ran this bad boy 5 additional times just to make sure! That CPU test sure sucks to wait through!

I have reached a plateau on OC'ing. I believe I will stop here until the Nvidia boys try to beat my scores. GOOD LUCK !

DAMN... that is 6800gt scores right there. awesome job

Yeah so I'm still having issues with installing other drivers than the factory installed ones. I was wondering if someone who has successfully installed the omega drivers on the 9860 could give me a quick guide to how they installed. I really don't think I've messed anything up, especially considering I've tried at least 10 times, but reading someone elses experience might point out an error that I've made.

Also anyone who has installed the Cat 5.1's...have you used mobility modder to patch the drivers? Or have you simply installed them as they came from ATI?

Any help is appreciated.
