Powerbook Deal

Just wanted to let people know that the now, last generation 12" 1.33Ghz PBs, can be had for $1199 after $100 rebate from amazon. Very nice, since u'll likely pay no taxes and no shipping!

A similar deal was offered on my iBook. It showed up in perfect condition and I got the rebate in a swift 4 weeks!

I imagine there may be similar deals for the 15" and 17" models but I didn't look around too much.

*correction: The $100 rebate is still available for the iBooks as well! With the free shipping and lack of taxes this beats the apple academic pricing by a sweet margin! ( I payed $922 w/ 2nd day air for my ibook, which would have been $1018 w/ academic+taxes). $150 rebate is offered for 14" ibooks and the 15" and 17" PB models.

sourpuss ;P to my knowledge most of the states are still internet tax free. perhaps u r not so lucky?

there is no "internet tax free". it all depends if the store has a office / wearhouse in your state. most of them are in california or NY. at least most commonly. i am in IL so that doesn't apply to me. however if i were to buy from Dell, IL is one (of ~20) of the states with offices (and retail stores in Chicago) so i would pay tax. Apple charges tax in most (if not all 50) states.

I recommend actually going in to your Apple Store (or call around). The discount on the overstock for a 1GHz when the 1.2GHz came out was close to 40% off of original list.

I picked up two.

cool beans, would that ve different than what apple is selling them for online? they have their 1.33Ghz 12" models going for $1299, same as amazon b4 rebate. the in-store would be different than this?
