It depends on there policy regarding dead pixels. However the replacement will be refurbished and might very well be in worse shape than the your current one, this will depend on the Dell policy and what they consider to be a "good" panel.

I'm pretty sure LCD with 2 dead pixels will be considered as acceptable and Dell will do nothing about it. But if you've just purchased it, you might try to exchage/return it because you're "not completely suticefied".

I haven't had a dead pixel...ever. I've owned 3 desktop LCDs (2 ViewSonic, 1 HP) and 4 laptops (2 dell, 1 sony, 1 acer)...none have had a single dead pixel. Hopefully I don't jinx myself for saying that.

I had one dead pixel on my Dell 9100, they sent me another 9100 with upgraded screen, dvd burner, extra batter, and upgraded my Windows XP to Pro while I still had my dead pixl 9100.

I sent the dead pixel one back with no charge at all.

WOOT!!!!

I got 2 dead pixels on my 700m. Dell refused to change the LCD because of their policy.
However, I also noticed that my screen was flickering pretty often. I learnt from this forum that this behavior was normal (the LCD refresh rate changes on the 700m and 600m depending on the computer activity and therefore causes a very short flickering). I sent back my laptop to Dell to have it "fixed" for the flickering issue. Of course, they couldn't figure out what the problem was and replaced the LCD.
Now I have a beautiful screen with no dead pixels

I noticed this on my XPS last night as well. Could it possibly be discharging excess juice or something?
