Alienware Extras, worth the cash?

Thread Starter
Hi guys! Just wanted some friendly advice about the system i've just ordered, and if you think i should add some of the extras that alienware offer! At first glance they appear to be a load of tat but i thought it best ask the experts. Then i noticed there are no experts on here so i thought i'd ask you lot.

Anyway, what do you lot think about the following wonderful extras:

Respawn Kit
Alien Adrenaline
Alien Autopsy

After taking your advice i've bumped my warranty up to 3 years, but now im starting to worry about leaving those extras off my order!

Not worth a cent IMHO.

Respawn is just a Ghost image of your hard drive that restores it to factory default. You will still get a Windows XP install disk which works better, as I've found that its best to reformat any computer as soon as you get it to clear off unwanted software and buggy automated OEM pre-installations.

AlienAutopsy comes free on the Master CD for whatever line of PC you buy (i.e. Aurora Master CD, Area 51 Master CD), and from what I've heard its not very helpful anyway. Added to the fact that if something were seriously wrong then you likely couldn't use it because either Windows or the internet would be inaccessible from the machine itself.

As for AlienAdrenaline, all it probably does is tweak a few settings that will be undone if you update the drivers.

On a side note, I didn't order the Respawn Kit and it was sent to me anyway, not that I would ever use it.

I'd consider the respawn kit unless you have a program that can make an image of the hard drives in factory fresh condition.

I've never bought the other things in your list, and I haven't missed them.

Alien Adrenaline is the "pay for" version of powerstrip. It's a program that lets you minorly overclock your system safely for minor improvements in performance. If you like that sort of thing, consider it. It is not the same as the free version of powerstrip.

As for Alien Autopsy, I think it's similar to Microsofts error reporting, but it goes to AW instead. Anyone had any experience using this either good or bad?

Def get the RESPAWN kit. If you need it just 1 time it's worth it.

IMHO waste of money, like venom said you get a Win xp disk and driver disk. Furthermore you'll find that if you have a technical issue, they are going to tell you to do a fresh install not a respawn.

Powerstrip is free from what I saw.

Respawn kit - I wish I had it - extra hours added on because I didn't.

I use Nvidias tweaking program with the 3dGuru overclock tweak to the registry to unlock the clock.
