Apple Panels

Does Apple make the panels for their displays, or do they just buy their panels from some other manufacturer?

not 100% sure on this, but i think the screen is whatever compal uses.

Everything Apple "makes" is actually made by someone else. So I can pretty much guarentee that this is no exception.

The Cinema Display panels are by LG.

like AMDzen said, apple doesnt actually "make" the products they sell, their team designs it, copyrights the design (as far as chasis goes), components come from large manufacturers like Hitachi, ATi, nVidia, SiS, Hynix (ram), etc. the production rights are sold to a company (in case of the iBook to Compal).

... which is not unusual. Most laptops on the market (Dell, AW, Hypersonic, HP, heck even Thinkpads) are made this way.

not unusual at all. however, ,IBM does actually make many of their components.
