Odering: Ordering was fast and very easy the website’s simple a plain layout allows one to easily choose the components he or she wants in their system. Only draw-back is that the website should be more up to-date as far as parts availability is concerned. The phase game went smoothly and without a hitch, It even shipped 1 week in advance ( 1-28-05) as opposed to 2-5-05.
Delivery and packaging: I left a note for Fed-ex for I was at school when The estimated delivery date was given, so I left a note telling them to leave it on the front door, and they did just that.
The black Alienware box is not an everyday box one sees everyday but nonetheless it is really cool and sleek. Once I opened it I noticed the grey soft sty foaming ,”Very nice” Everything was packed neatly and everything was accounted for. The tin can also gives it a nice touch.
Extras’s etc: Inside the box was a black binder, with all the inventory checklists owners manual etc, I believe this should be standard with all computers when you buy it from a company. Along with that were utilities and my Alienrespawn kit, So again everything was neat and orderly
First impressions/boot up: When I removed the plastic wrapping I thought to myself “this thing is huge!” I set it up on my desk, along wth my new alienware cyborg green mouse. I opened to see the extremely huge and glossy screen that set my order back 2 weeks..Extremely impressed. So I booted up..fast and smooth…activated windows. Best of all NO DEAD PIXLES! The screen is AMAZING (more on the screen to follow)
Gaming and DVDs. This is one major beast when it comes to games Doom 3 HL2 LOTR BFME all on highest possible settings with an insane fps. But the screen my friends is a jaw dropper The 1600x1200 screen is beyond gorgeous in my opinion definitely worth the wait and the extra $140. Heating wise it does produce some heat during long gamming hours (especially on the lower left hand side) But I played Doom 3 without a hitch for 2 ½ hours straight, But it still could run a little degrees cooler. This thing is relatively quiet under heavy load. Playing back DVDs is a sich..with the most INSANE QUALITY AND picture I have seen to date it is really sharp and clear LOTR never looked so good on a lappy
Battery and Mobility: Yes this is a Desktop replacement its heavy and a bit cumbersome, but for those who still want to use it as a laptop, you can. I am. it’s a bit awkward a first but you get used to the size and weight. In fact it was lighter than I expected (wha!?) This lappy is a definite attention grabber by anyone walking. I have checked battery life yet but I will do in a few days But the fact that it clocks itself down to a 2.9 is something that I’m not to thrilled about. I noticed lower fps from allot of my games especially LORT BFME but it was still playable and it played very well. I now take this thing to school and honestly it isn’t that bad at all. and especially if you have a outlet near you so you can unleash all this system has to offer..more to come..
I am a satisfied customer! Truly my demands were met and exceded!
